Default New ships not completely painted

I just received 6 of my new ships
3 Sopwith Camel’s and 3 Fokker DR.1’s, here are two that I had to paint the wheels and guns. Click image for larger version.

Just certain parts on 3 of the planes. The wheels and the guns were not painted. No problem I just painted them.

Do a bit of research Sam, you might want to keep painting red on that MvR Fokker..!

    I’ll check it out. Thanks
I was actually thinking about painting 2 of my Fakker’s different schemes. There can only be one Richthofen. Lol

If the wheels looked unpainted, it may be that you were expecting modern black rubber. IIRC, WWI rubber was grey.

So, Ares models don't usually have 'black rubber' wheels.

PS: This web page had some interesting comments about tire color and dates of availability:

Link: Model T Ford Forum - What color tires for a 1914?

Someone there suggests that black rubber wasn't common until after 1918, and that rubber wheels were white, grey, or even red.

One of the Sopwith Camel’s had no color than Green on all of the undercarriage including wheels. So I painted the rubber and pit a black dot in the middle for the Axel. The second Sopwith Camel’s wheels were painted red, black rubber and a black dot in the middle to indicate an Axel. The guns on Both were white. It’s no big deal. I just painted them. I still haven opened the last 2 ships but when I do I’ll take pictures if they are missing paint. Here are the after pics of the Camel’s. You will notice one with red wheel and black tire. This is the way it came. The next Camel had no paint except green and I added the black tire and axel.

Chill, Tim. Dried frog pills; Gin. repeat as needed.
Repeat: no sails on these "ships" (OK, they have canvas wings, that look sail-like......But not sails!).

Tim is correct... ships and airships = no. Airplanes, aircraft, planes = yes. I'll even accept aeroplanes and flying machines in a pinch! If you press BUY on Jane's All the World's Ships, when it arrives on your doorstep, it won't have a single airplane described in it. .

I'm going to google dried frog pills while I drink vast amounts of Gin in support of Tim's correctly righteous belief... No sails! ..Clink!

Sam there is a room called Sails of Glory and that is where the ship folks go. Tim usually says NO SAILS as a joke.
