You can believe that since it's the Navy there's an awful lot of paperwork.

Good to see the FAA still maintains its sense of humour and capability for innovation.
Could this be the worlds first ceramic war HEAD?

Do you think it is rim fire or an impact detonation Tim, and does it qualify as a chemical weapon?

    Only a chem-weapon if it's loaded

Don't you have a special tool having something to do with prepping this kind of payload?

GIs will find something to get a laugh using the strangest things. I can't tell you some of the things we did.

Good picture and story Mick. I remember a couple of incidents from my dim distant past. An apoplectic Admiral with grey paint all over his nice white uniform after our number one had us paint ship for his visit. Our ship accidentally steering a reciprical course to the rest of the flotilla when we were supposed to be escorting the QE2 into Sydney Harbour for the first time. Blowing a towed target to smithereens with our first shot in a gunnery exercise. Good times and fun sometimes.

I remember us having to rebuild a standby location Gary, the junior member of the team was using a spray gun and fooling about with it,turned around and gave it a long squirt just as the boss walked around the corner, turned his nice air force blue uniform to nato green.

Nothing so colourful as that in my recolections, except when we were on our fire fighting course.
Some of the firemen were hosing down the Appliences as the Station Officer walked across the forecourt. Some wag decided to follow him about two feet behind his back with the water jet.
The Station Officer must have heard something, because suddenly he stopped dead and turned round.
You can't control a high pressure hose with that degree of finesse.
He was also wearing his number one uniform at the time!

That was probably good for a weekend of bread and water, plus cleaning the dirtiest facilities that could be found

Let's just say that he was not amused Karl, and a lot of people had to practice in the smoke filled building that week.

I wonder, did the pilot of 572 return "flushed" with victory after the mission ?
