Spotted this. If you have access to Amazon Prime, there is a two part series called The Aces War. First one is 1916-1916
Second one covers 1917 - 1918. It’s a french series so the actors are all subtitled but the voice over/narration is in English. It’s a mix of live actors, CGI and original footage. If your knowledge of the air war and the aces is pretty good you won’t learn anything new but it is an enjoyable and well put together watch. There is more of. French focus but that makes a nice change. The CGI dogfights aren’t bad either. Well worth investing a couple of hours in. If you are new to this subject then it’s a pretty good introduction.
Either way, well worth a look.
Aces featured, Boelke, Guynemer, Fonk, Von Richthofen, Udet and Mannock. Roland Garros also features.
Couple of niggling errors, Mannock’s victory total stated at 73 instead of 61 for one and the Fokker DR1 is a bit overplayed as Richthofen’s mount rather than the Albatross but still watchable though.
