Here is the newest addition of ace skill chits added to the CYM solo campaign. They will be in the files under WWI Campaigns. (in the queue at the moment) If you already have the OTT ace skill chits these are all you need to ad to the set. If you are new to OTT and wish to use these chits you will also need to get the previous OTT set from the files.

Nice one Peter, can you pop this in the campaign thread please ?
One query about stuntman, + or - 90 degree firing arc ? Is it not just a +90 degree firing arc to a chosen side?

    Already moved.

I put 'or' on the chit hoping this would suffice for an explanation that you can fire -90* 'or' +90*. Not a lot of real estate to explain rules on the chits! I am trusting folks will use the campaign rules where you put in the full explanation as these chits are just reminders.

Just finished my mission 1. OMG! I haven't had this lucky a game in quite awhile. All the booms and fires fell on the Adlers but the climbing ability and manoeuvrability of the Nieuport 11 made a difference too.

Okay, that means re-painting my two Ares Nieuports as Gustav Leffers and Kurt Students captured Nieuports is somewhat important to even the fights until the Halberstadts arrive in the Staffel.

Just rolled the C&W for the Adlers. OUCH!

They still did better than the Adlers in my game. Four Fokkers versus two booms and two fires.

The pictures and story are now up and complete. If something looks weird let me know as I ended up putting it together arse backwards due desktop scheduling conflicts here. I absolutely need the desktop to upload and manage the photos. My iPad is pants at that. So I thought I’d upload the photos and add the story with my iPad so the desktop would be freed up. Not a bright idea. Should have just waited a day or two.

Finally got my squadron done up for the campaign. The six Nieuport 11 are for the Scout flight and the three Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter two-seaters for the reconnaissance flight. The last two to add were Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter single seat bombers to use as escorts for the 2-seaters if warranted by the scenario. I have a Voisin to do but it will be French and if needed 'borrowed' from them. I'm working on two valom Fokker E.III that will be converted to E.II and after that two more Valom's that will become A.III for the AH forces plus one more captured Nieuport 11 (Leffers). All of what you see here except the single Ares original Sopwith I've done since Dave announced the campaign - i.e., 2 Ares repaints of Sopwiths, 2 Shapeways Sopwiths and 6 Valom Nieuports.

Very sharp. Wouldn't the 2 seaters be the escorts for the single seat bombers?

Maybe for a bombing mission but for a reconnaissance mission you'd want the two-seaters doing the recce for the observer in the back. Seems to me they used both 9400 and 9700 for a variety of missions.

Good to see some more single seater bombers. We ran my pair escorted by the tandems in the fourth quarter of the first flight club, they didn't fair well against Albatrii but it was huge fun !

Couldn't tell from the pictures but are yours Shapeways or Ares with the gunner position filled in?

They're converted Ares models Paul - went that route for the cards & bases - removed the rear arc & a B off the bases.
Used the French Costes model & repainted them. Post #73 here:

Thought so. Cards are something you can't get with a Valom kit.

Sad to say I may be a day or two late posting mission 2. It is ready but unfortunately my pc is giving me trouble as of last night. I can't open any excel or word files! I dropped off my pc at a shop tonight. I was surprised to find one open! If I have to I'll re-take the setup photos and re-write the mission on my wife's (the one I'm using now) mac.

    No worries, Peter.
Hope they can fix it for you.
I was supposed to be getting myself and SWMBO new Windows 10 PCs before the world went all crazy.

It will be at least the weekend before I can fly the mission, so take your time.

Finally got mission 1 done. Need to write the AAR over the next few days. Sorry its so late. I had a quick look at some of the other AARs and shall do them justice as soon as I'm done with number one myself, but from what I could see they were relatively bloodless. Wish I could say the same, but what with two explosion cards and two fires plus loads high cards drawn (and I only used single decks for this one), despite all of the gun jams there was not much left for the AMs to work with even for the survivors
Laters guys and I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Calling all OTT's calling all OTT's this is Vagabond, I say again this is Vagabond - over.

It was silent out there and then I realized I didn't have a radio it was 1916 and I was in some alternate universe where time went in stops and starts. It seemed to stop for me and when I looked over a month had gone by.

Hope everyone is well and safe behind closed and barred doors and keeping the enemy at bay, it looks like I have a lot to catch up on here, so I will set too.

No idea when I might start on mission 1, my plane has been undercoated for about 6 weeks and I can't fly a black plane with no insignia so need to get my finger out and some inspiration in.

    All the best.

That will make for some 'interesting' photographs, but I'm sure with some imaginative, image-filled description by John, it will be just fine.

    Unhappy

As they say "the best laid plans of mice & men"!
With the travel restrictions being lifted in NSW from June 1st, I have visitors arriving from Sydney on Tuesday afternoon so there goes any chance of me completing the mission & AAR report until the following week. Sorry chaps!

  47. #47

    You are not alone, Baz.
The campaign seems to have stalled.

Only 3 of us have completed it, and a couple of sign-ons have yet to post AARs at all.
It seems the virus has done the opposite of what I expected.
I thought there would be more interest in the solo campaigns with all the lockdowns.

  48. #48

The players have stalled rather than the campaign Pete ! That's still rolling on. Mission three required a lot of time & effort. Maybe we should avoid the double whammy games in the future, or, spread them over a couple of months to ensure everyone has time to play them.

Sorry guys - I'm guilty of wanting to spend all my time out of doors in the hot weather. I've played the entire mission three, taken all the pics and resized them all. Just cannot get down to hunkering over the keyboard, for more than a few minutes, to write the AAR. I shall get there in the end.

Meantime its mainly gardening on Yon's allotment. As the man said - " I'll be back!"

    Take care all.

3 has been flown but the writing isn't finished. One would have thought with the shutdown flying time would have increased but for some of us it went the other way. Trying to get plans, contractors, choosing paint colors, light fixtures, kitchen cabinets, appliances.......on a home renovation project right now is a full time job and then some. The ball on this project is just starting to roll so maybe there will be some free time soon!
