It has been some time since I contributed an AAR. Since a game day is approaching with my Brother Bob, I thought I would brush up a bit and fly a practice scenario. Coming in over the channel a lone Strutter with a N17 escort (Soubiren of the Escadrille). The Strutter is high, but the N17 is higher in support.
Just lifting off on this cloudless day are Hans Klein and Werner Voss.
As the recon starts to descend towards the harbor/target they are not aware of the two Pfalz clawing for altitude.
The Strutter dives to level (3) just in time for the observer to snap the shutter over the harbor.
Over their shoulders Klein and Voss can just see along the shore the two Entente craft They realize that they turn and climb and attempt to take down the Strutter on it's return.
Soubiren looks to port for possible intercept.
Now out over open water and still climbing the Pfalz's begin to turn back towards the invaders.
ACTION- finally! The Strutter and it's escort have reversed their direction to head for home when the two Pfalz's rise to meet them. Voss is not in a good position but Klein and Soubiren exchange fire. The N17 is still in a higher position and takes advantage of the situation.
The Nieuport is able to split the defending Pfalz's and create a space for the Strutter to slip through. Not; however, without a parting shot from an accurate observer that has traded the camera for the Lewis!
There was no way now that Klein and Voss could turn and catch the Entente kites, so I called it at this point. Klein took 9 damage points (due to altitude) but both he and Voss returned to their aerodrome as the Entente returned with their precious photos. Score one for the Allies.
