Great painting, Paul!
Those are real beauties. Are those decals of the lozenge camo on wings?
Hi Jeff, welcome to the Aerodrome.
Yes those are decals.
I bought some from 1/144 direct. As it was a going out of business sale I got a bit of this and that but did manage to get 3 sheets of the ‘mauve’. I will be doing a 3rd Albatros for Jasta 23 which will be Otto Kissenberth’s black one. I wanted them all with same lozenge, so the options were use the ‘mauve’ sheets or print some of my own. The mauve will do nicely for Kisenberth....

Another pair of beauties, Paul! Did you hand-paint the lozenge design?!
All the best,
Matt
Ahhh...I see we had almost simultaneous posts...I had picked up some lozenge decals from 1/144 Direct, too - he had a nice variety of color selections...

Haha....I had debated over-painting the decals, as I have sometimes done, as the 1/144 Direct lozenges are fairly dull / faded but in the end I decided I wanted the 'faded' look.
The idiotic thing I did do was to cut a separate piece for flap on the tail as the flaps are done with the lozenge going in the opposite direction of the rest of the tail. Then after fussing with that I realized I didn't also do the wing flaps that way so why did I bother with the separate tail lozenge pieces. Aka how to go mad!
A tip (or not if you have better ideas) for the 1/144 lozenge decals - I found that tracing the templates onto the decals easily damages them. This time I plunked the template down and painted the outline with black paint. I found it easier with minimal damage to the decal. Also, I scanned the Valom model pieces to make the templates.
FYI - one of my homemade lozenge decals overpainted...
