Thread: Database Error

  1. #51

    Default

Got one a few hours ago trying to post a pic on the January thread. Beginning to wonder if it is line traffic in the Pacific on the net from the China Issue going on right now.

And as soon as I try and post this I get it...sigh

    Thanks guys.
Just seen this - I get so many every time I use the forum it's ridiculous - I will attempt to log them in the future.
I had seven just trying to get to a picture I copy regularly the other day - every screen I went to was an error.
And there we go again - 22.27GMT 25Jan - trying to open a second iteration

I have had the Database Error message quite a number of times whilst trying to upload photographs into an album.

It is really 'hit or miss' for me, right now. I'm getting it regularly. Sometimes when initially going to the site. Sometimes when navigating between pages.

Also, I'm getting really long load times between pages, something that never used to happen. I get to the page I want, but sometimes it is minutes, not nanoseconds.

Same here Mike. Initially going to the site, sometimes even when logging out, which reminds me - 22.35GMT 25Jan - often when opening a sub-forum, thread or post, frequently on each step & get delayed load times too.

And it went again posting the above 09.07GMT26Jan...

I planned to leave this page open to log the fails and opened a second iteration of the 'drome

09.06GMT26Jan - DBE - Five refresh attempts failed also before it came up.

    0918GMT26Jan - DBE - Updating a post in OTT

I've also noticed that sometimes some images & custom avatars are not showing in posts - Tim's, Karl's - but do appear when revisited.

yeah, i don't think the list of times this has occured will help. You get Database Error, then you refresh and the page comes on. This is likely not caused by a DB overload.

I just made a change to the config file on the database server. Please "reset" you error counts and post up if you get them after the time on this post.

I have had 4 database errors in last 10 mins.

2 minutes ago - attempting to post a reply on a thread.

"Refresh" took me to a blank screen! Multiple refreshes did nothing.

Using the "click to go back" arrow, I returned to the thread, and tried to post again; I got a message "this post is a duplicate of a post you made in the last 5 minutes", despite no such post appearing in the thread.
Clicking "OKAY", I returned to the thread, with no reply posted, and a message saying my post had failed.
    Lather, rinse, repeat.

This time, there were 2 identical posts in the thread - I deleted one.

    Thumbs up

Yeah I had multiple Data Base Errors when trying to post yesterday.

I'm still seeing errors, but not as many as before. I'll keep looking into it.

I received an email notification of a private message, but there is nothing in my inbox. Does that have something to do with this issue?

I found it very slow to load most of this afternoon and evening

  26. #76

    Default

It's been so slow loading, that sometimes I can't get on because it's so slow. At least, it takes about 40 seconds for a new page to load on here. And now while I'm typing the letters are delayed showing up.

  27. #77

I've left the page to start over as it has taken sooo long at times. Frustrating.

5 threads visited, and one reply posted - no problem.

And I may or may not have had one just now when trying to reply to the Wings of Savage Mill thread-it's didn't give me an outright error, but it lagged for about 3 full minutes until I re-loaded the page, then worked correctly.

Okay, the site is back online to test out the changes I've made. If the errors come back I'll be taking the site down again to do more work. As such, I'd hold off on trying to post any big AARs or such for a day or so.
