Thread: KOTA-OTT League

  1. #1

    Default KOTA-OTT League

I'll update as we go along and post pics.

We played 1 on 1 sorties.

    8 pilots.

8 sorties, but not an even spread. More to follow and initial pics.

Neil Gilmore and I managed 1 sortie. A real dodge and weave, duck, dive and climb game. Ended when I unintentionally flew my Eindecker off the side of the mat. Neil claimed force off points.

Michaels son Charlie takes on Uncle George in the 'we've never flown against this aircraft before' game (The Vickers FB5 Gunbus). George, in the Eindecker, was shot down once, collided with both going down and George was forced off due to pilot error. Charlie claiming most points for 2 kills and 1 force off.

    Summary.
    1. Used a revised KOTA set of rules.
    2. Included from OTT pilot skills, when we get Aces.
    3. Included from OTT crashing, escaping charts.
    4. Used a simplified altitude, ie dive go down 1 peg, climb go up 1 peg. No up 1 peg for Immelmann.
    5. Combat zone was set at 6 pegs. Go above 6 classed as a force off table, go below 1 classed as a forced landing.

With the pilots we have, believe me it's simple and it worked.

    Neil

Look ahead to next week, both teams have all pilots flying on same table. Defending their own balloon whilst trying to shoot down the opposing balloon.

I'll update as the /League/Campaign progresses.

The campaign is an abstract points game. Whichever side has the most is classed as the attacker in missions. For every 8 sorties flown then 1 month has passed.
We started in July 1915, it is now August 1915. As campaign months pass then newer aircraft will become available. Aces will always have the choice of newer aircraft 1 sortie before anyone else.

9 players in all with 1 new club member. 2 missing pilots and 1 back at Uni. Mind you it was hard enough with 9, never mind 12.

Andrew on fire as the German pair dominate the center. British balloon is downed by fire, Mick claiming the kill. The German balloon was wound down and the fire was put out before it was destroyed.

The points gap closes. Next matches will be in 3 weeks time.

Looks brilliant Neil, a campaign with so many players, most of us can only dream about such a thing. Well done on planning, organising and running. Good set of photos as well mate.

I'm hoping that we can get one set of games in per month now. But not as many on one table, more one on one and two on two.
