Great set-up!
Hope everyone has a Frakkin' good time!

Oooh! A Raptor and and Mk VII Viper on the Colonial side?
One of these days...
Good luck with the gang.

4 to a side sounds great. Locally if I can get one besides myself I'm happy.
Any Nuggets step up to the rookie level?
I do feel lucky having this many gamer friends.
Sortie 1 went something like this...
We lost the first Viper early on. My wife's Raider got in behind him and hit him repeatedly. However... after action reports indicate that the Viper's pilot assumed that chit he pulled was 9+, when it was actually 6+, and those extra points did him in. Oh well.
We lost another soon thereafter. The new guys were the first to go.
And my Mk VII will be lost on the next turn along with my wife's Raider when her FTL jump landed her square on top of me resulting in massive collision damage to both of our ships.
Cylons had a solid victory in sortie one. They used their FTL drives to their advantage, jumping behind the Vipers at crucial moments during the game.
Sortie 2... that was much more evenly balanced. Or at least the outcome was.
Well done. Sounds like a good time was had by all.
I'm still struggling to get my local group into this game. The basic rules don't seem to give a true flavour and the standard rules have a little too much going on for teaching games. Going to keep plugging away though.

I try to go with modified Starting Rules. I ask people to watch their G Ratings and Kinetic Energy, just to warm up, and I use the ship templates for Overlapping ships, as I find the basic rules just a waste. Too "X-Wing"y for me. The simple Acceleration principle to try to wrap a brain around is that any move planned has to be within the Acceleration Rating of the given ship. That's it. You can go up or down speed as much as your ship's Acceleration Rating allows. So, Vipers can't go from 6 KE forward to -1 KE backward in one planning phase. If they get that, everything is just trying to learn not to fly into rocks. Cause there are rules for running into rocks.

OK! I've never had to look at that, as I don't often place myself that close to a target.
I have, however, gone drifting off in an unplanned direction at KE 6 through an asteriod field, getting damaged all the way through it.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll keep that in mind, next game.
PS: I might have to add a note to my cheat sheet for FTL moves.

The shootout resulted in the destruction of one Cylon. Another Cylon was destroyed shortly thereafter, along with a Viper.
For a few turns we Colonials had the upper hand.
The turn after this my Raptor was destroyed when a Raider jumped in behind me.
Once I was out of the action, I went and joined a game of Space Fluxx at the dead pilots table (which i won), but the last few pics were blurry because I kept running back and forth snapping quick pics between hands. Suffice to say, the whittled away at each other until there was the Mk VII and a Raider, and they did a mutual kill on each other to end the game.
I'm fine with the complete rules after playing through them once with my eldest son. Teaching my friends... some of them would catch on right away, but a couple of them are... shall we say easily distracted. I'd be better off teaching them in some 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 action.
How did the Raptor fly, when in amongst all the fighters? Did they give it a "6" to hit, or did you use a pilot token for a bonus to hit? And did it suffer any loss of Acceleration with the gun kit?

Is this of any use?

Thanks for posting the AAR's. It is always good to see the Cylon Empire in ascendancy. I think I need to use FTL in our games too.
