Nice Russkies! Where did you get the skull decal?
Excellent jets there, Bob!

Decals are from MISCMINI. Skulls are from an Albatross DIII set and the Eagles are a fantasy set he has.

Wooow! Bob, what a superb effort there. Colors are very true according to the period (different manufacturers) - and above all - what an armada!
Plus for the decals - chequers - those days they used the red square on top left part, changed later 90 degrees.

Great fleet of Polish planes Bob and imaginative use for the (W40K) decals.
Looks Nice!
And here I thought I was non stop painting, You are nuts Bob.
Thanks guys. My paint jobs are not close to what you guys do but for me keeps me occupied. So now for the last of the IRAS planes. 2 1 1/2 Strutters.
These are the last of the planes for this year. However, I do have some tanks to put together, paint and decal. I did get some German, US and Russian decals so that will be after Christmas.
40K...now there is something I have not painted for myself in decades (3rd ed). Maybe I should bring out my Squat army and refurbish it.
Squats are what stopped me playing 4K. I had just spent a lot of dosh building up my Squat Biker squads, always having played Dwarf armies in the past, when Workshop brought out its new rule book. Squats had been written out. I gave mine to my sons and swore never to buy another Workshop army as long as I live.

I just finished making this box as a Christmas present for my brother-in-law.
The font is Irken and is from the Invader Zim cartoon. The words on the lid say "invasion box of doom" and under the cuttlefish, it says "megadoomer". My brother-in-law is a big fan of the cartoon so he'll get a kick out of it. I'm giving him the cuttlefish and a Sopwith camel with it.
Very cool present Robert.
Very nice work, Robert.

Concerning Squats, if I remember right they were mostly owned by Maruder (SP) who made a lot of the GW Sculpts. When they tried to grab all the sculpts for themselves the company held out and balked at giving them up...soooo...write em out if we can't own em. Funny thing is, in Battlefleet Gothic guess who the Demiurgs are?
Besides attempting graphic work, I have been 'painting' something this month.
This is one of 320 Heritage Stones at the Comox Air Force Museum Air Park:
It is a composite showing the before and after condition of the stone (The diagonal slash through the center is the weathered stone, the outsides are the refinished stone). Being out in the weather and sun, the red paint has deteriorated to nearly nothing, and the other paint is going, as well. The referbisment project has been ongoing for years, and we are trialing a new material. The new material is a dishwasher safe glass paint. We are hoping the red lasts more than a year. There are 320 stones, and we have managed to paint about 20 or 30 a summer.
This fall (end of October), we pulled 30 from the racks before they were covered for the winter, with the hope of speeding up the refurbishment by painting through the winter. In seven weeks, we have 14 done, so the remaining 16 will be done in lots of time for the Spring park opening in May.

Well that explains why they so suddenly disappeared from the Wh40K universe. I wondered why they, literally, disappeared between one version and the next.
As a marketing decision, I suppose it made sense, as any Squat player was now out of the game, if they didn't go buy a whole new army of "Adeptus Approved" stuff.

That box is brilliant Rob, well done.
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Merry Christmas to all. It has been awhile since contributing to the Aerodrome, but brother Bob suggested I do so. He built himself a Damage Deck Caddy from chip board. I asked if he would make one for me. It cost me a four pack of Ivan Drago Stout from the Onion Brewery, but what are brothers for!
Here is my caddy as it arrived.
I thought I might personalize it by painting fuselage images. I started with a red background:
Then I painted in my favorite Udet logo:
One down and three sides to go!
My next image was a bit more ambitious - a Lafayette Escadrille Indian Head:
I took a breather and used a Sopwith Pup decal I had for side three;
My final side took on the image of the Iron Eagle's DV Edelweiss
That is all for now
Superb effort and result, Mike!

That goes for you and your brother too, Willi!

I see I've missed a ton of great 'workbench' stuff. November was tough month with family and then the flu which I haven't entirely beaten. Really only back to the hobby in the last couple of weeks. The focus is trying to finish the figures I need for the variations on a theme for the Battle of Bailen. Here are the 4th Swiss Rgt (in French service) with some generals, Spanish generals / ADC and the Spanish Africa Rgt. The Swiss are a mix of Tabletop and Essex figures while the remainder are AB figures.
My rep guns are jammed, Rob, but my heart is beating faster than ever. I hope your new desert unit, called Skalski's Circus, will do it's job to secure victory in the desert skies.

Haven'y checked in here for a while, but that doesn't mean I've been idle ;-)
First up, all of the capital ships in the IJN and USN fleets for use in a Midway-based WGS game:
Then, a couple of squads of Bolt Action Miniatures:
And a Nieuport 17 will be ready soon.
Other than that, nothing to report ;-)
A second to none paintjob on tje figurines, Paul. Are they suitable for the Black Powder system?

Just to push Matt over the edge of indecision....none of these are from December but all are from the last year

Those Shadow Chaps are certainly talented.
Nice painting Paul and I like the size of your regiments 48 figures is a big commitment in true Charles Grant style but they look far better than small skinny regiments of 12 or so figures.
Well done.
Well, Paul, since I already have Song of Drums and Shakos and have read through it twice and taken notes, I think it is time to place an order with a local source for some Front Line 28mm British and French light troops so that the skirmishing can begin......pictures will be forthcoming in the new year...yours and Ken's and Karo's work has reawakened my interest in the Penisular War...
All the best,
Matt
