Fall In – game 3 – Gothas Over Paris
4 German and 4 French pilots had a go at each other in this one. Germans flew either a Gotha bomber or a 2 seater escort Rumpler. The defending French flew SPAD VIIs and Nieuport 17s.
The Germans had to cross the board to reach their target, Paris.
As soon as the intercepting French passed the escorts they score a hit and one of the Gotha’s engines trails a black cloud of oily smoke.
The deadly Jacob boys(on left) flew Nieuport 17s while Bob and Don flew SPAD VIIs of SPA78.
The SPADs close ion on a Rumpler. The Rumpler’s observer cries “Merde”! as his gun jams.
Mike J approaches the sweet blind spot behind a Gotha. Both are frustrated as rounds foul in the breech.
The pair of SPADs pummel one of the escorts.
A conga-line of ill intent.
A Gotha nose gunner sets his tormentor on fire.
The Rumpler pilot yells to the observer to take advantage of a great position. The observer hammers away not hearing his pilots lament.
One happy SPAD pilot…for a brief moment anyway.
The SPAD leader also is taken down by an observer’s well aimed shot.
The Jacobs team takes on the Gothas head on.
After one shot they are past the bombers receiving fire and not able to shoot.
The re-spawned SPAD quickly find itself in trouble.
A Rumpler, trying it’s best to protect a Gotha, is downed by a SPAD.
One last shot and the Gothas get through to Paris.
The French air defense around Paris failed this day to keep Paris safe. Three Gothas of three got through. A clear German win.
The French downed 2 German escort planes.
The Germans downed 6 French interceptors.
Top Hun pilot, John H.
