If the WoG Facebook page is to be believed, they are finally working on the F4U. Some sort of live announcement has been teased for 5:30 GMT.
As to when they might finally hit the table......

So we needed just 10 years since very first minis
I just saw it. Great news. I wonder what other 3 airplanes will come with the new series.
“Our engineer is at work on the long-awaited F4-U Corsair” - let's hope it’s not the same one that designed the 109K.

I don't normally do Facebook, but when Ares doesn't release info on its web page...
The video on Facebook seems like a good verion, but will have rockets and bombs. More critical eyes than mine can check for themselves.

Another look, with screen captures from Facebook:
What appears to be their working drawing:
Note: The original drawing on the video was a split top/bottom view, with this specific capture showing the full top fuselage, but the lower wing visible on the left.
3D modelling with ordnance:
Only by antenna position and canopy, I'm guessing an F4U-4 [Edit: (-4s had a four-bladed prop, and antenna only from the rear fuselage)].
PS: or perhaps not?

If only they could get these and the P47 in print at the same time I could be tempted to do Honduras vs. El Salvador using WOG/S

The Corsair was promised so long ago, it is surprising that Ares have only got around to modelling it now but the news is very welcome.
Wondering if they are just now getting started, if they are at the drawing stage we could all be 5 years older when they hit the beaches . . . glad I did the AIM and Sky Pilot route 5 years ago . . . they would be smart to reprint the Zeroes, but then . . .
Thanks Karl. I have 2 F4's coming this week for El Salvadorian planes.
David the Salvadorians had P-51's and F4's. The Hondurans had F4's. From the book I have the F4's were Goodyear planes and some of the P-51's had wing tanks. Both side used civilian planes they adapted as bombers. The biggest being the DC-3 (C-47). I posted photos of my P-51's and Corsairs in the hobby rom but here are two pick of them.
One can hope that this means the PTO will finally get some love. A box set like the BoB box set with Zeros and Wildcats would greatly be appreciated. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg...Corsairs, P-38s, Avengers, Hellcats, Helldivers, Bettys, Georges, Oscars, late War Zekes, Kates, Jill’s, Graces, and even the B-29 would all be greatly appreciated. There are many behind that as well that I would love to eventually see in official form from Ares.
That would really boost the game in my humble opinion, but hey what do I know? I know a guy with a half dozen aircraft carriers . . .
Yes. I got mine from AIM a couple of years or so back. Now I will only need to buy one to get the cards.

Take a look at the post dated yesterday, Dec 16th. P-39 Airacobras are inbound as well!

--not THAT one, the other one.
About time they get to these Pacific icons. One version of the Corsair with rockets and bombs would be nice but not all three.
Welcome to the Drome Curt, on behalf of the Squadrons based here in Dear old Blighty.

Curt, where in Maine are you?
The P-39 Airacobra was used as a ground attack aircraft, I thought. I can't find any images online with anything underneath it, except a single drop tank. Hmmm...
The F4U Corsair was a fighter-bomber, but mostly represented in popular media as a fighter.
It appears to me that Ares is giving us a P-39 as a fighter, but the F4U as a ground-attack version? Not as bad as putting bombs on a Mk I Hurricane, but... Marketing?
PS: Wikipedia says that, in Russian, 'ground support' doesn't necessarily mean 'ground attack'. The low speed and low altitude capabilities of the P-39 allowed for air coverage of troops from air attack, so the Russians used it as low-level CAP (Combat Air Patrol), or fighter-interceptor.

Hopefully they stick to the mono "Black Sheep" version to avoid the ugly wing edge issue created by the sticker method. If they only provide a fully loaded build I will pick up a couple and finally paint my BRS metal versions to fill out my squadron. I would rather by a half dozen from Ares though. When they do it right the WoG aircraft are my favorite gaming models on the market.
I agree Scott when they get it right they are superb models. It is a pity that these little details on finish spoil a good thing and cause time and expertise to touch up.
