Thread: It's Flying Helmut the Sailorman

Talking It's Flying Helmut the Sailorman

Took this outside the Viking Ship Museum in Keflavik, notice the similarity with a certain member who professes he doesn't like sailing ships? The propensity for wearing silly helmets? Proof positive that Tim comes from a long line of seafarers, methinks

Come to think of it, that all proves NOTHING...………..

    Silly helmet, YES
    Scary bird of prey, YES
    Propensity for wielding axes, YES

statue displayed OUTSIDE ship museum, not inside...……………..

    Consider one withdrawn...…………...for now...………….

Maybe the ancestor insisted on shipping out with no sails; oars only!

I think this ancestor, while now rolling in his grave, is claiming, "No Oars"!

Nice to see him delipicted there with his pet seagull

And who said Vikings explored Iceland on ships? I can imagine Tim flying a glider made of reindeer skins. Or may be he lost the competition with Leif Eriksson's ships so he doesn't like sails?

Seagull, seagull... that's no Seagull, that's a rare Norwegian Blue purchased from a local vendor not one half hour before sitting for the sculpture.

Beg to differ - it's supposed to be a raven, one of 3 taken by Hrafna-Floki when he went looking for Iceland to do the weekly shop. The first he released flew straight to the Faroes, the second flew up and came straight back down (and probably found himself on the evening's menu) and the third led him to Iceland. Presumably the one Tim (err, I mean Floki) is holding is the lucky third one. Hrafna-Floki means Raven Floki, a name given to him after this particular saga. Either that, or they thought he was stark raven mad to try it in the first place.

There you go, education and humour all in one post.

Maybe we could arrange a boating outing for Tim as part of his Lend-Lease Experience, as long as there are NO SAILS involved...

That statue is an amazing likeness

    All the best,

Didn't realise that Iceland did a frozen Raven slimmers meal section
Suppose you only check them out if you are a bit peckish

Isn’t Stormy Petrel the bird Donald Trump was (or wasn’t) involved with?
