    Default Damage Counter Set Numbers

Hi, new to the game and Aerodrome. I've recently purchased two second-hand WW2 sets but the damage counters seem a bit mixed up - according to the instructions WOW Deluxe Set has 252 damage chits and Fire from the Sky has 222. Have searched the internet but can't find a detailed breakdown of how many As, Bs, Cs, Ds etc. should be in each set. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance!

The Battle of Britain Starter set has

    A chits: 72
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 60
    Total: 252.

I would have thought the others to be the same.

Thanks to you both for replying. I can see now the Starter Set has 252, same breakdown as BoB, however Fire from the Sky lists 222 in the rules - I count 220 as follows: A 72, B 50, C 60, D 28 (so perhaps missing two Ds?)

My copy of Fire from the Sky has

    A chits: 72
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 30
Total: 222 So I am afraid that you are missing two D chits as you suspected.

If anyone is interested the Dawn of War set has

    A chits: 72
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 0
Total: 192 Although the rulebook says 194 but I think that is a misprint.

I thought that I would complete the survey, so I dug out my Nexus deluxe Starter Set and the first (unpopular) Wings of Glory deluxe Starter Set.

In the Nexus deluxe Starter Set(Spitfire I, Messerschmitt 109E, Wildcat, Zero) there were

    A chits: 72
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 60
    Total: 252

In the first Wings of Glory deluxe Starter Set (Curtiss P-40, Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien, Yak-1, Reggiane Re.2001)

A chits: 75 (3 of them were blank)
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 60
    Total: 252 (plus 3 blank A chits).

Thanks David for this effort, like you say this is good to have on record. I'm happy to report I found the two missing chits hiding elsewhere in the two sets I bought - mind you I would only have found it after searching so hard (and triple checking my counts for both sets!) following this thread.

I am glad that you found the missing chits, Gaz. Losing a piece always irritates me, particularly when it is very difficult to find a replacement.

I have realized that this thread contains your first posts on the website, so welcome to the Aerodrome! If you explore the site, you will find much to add to your enjoyment of the game. Do feel free to ask more questions. You find the members here are very friendly and helpful.

For completeness, in the Tripods & Triplanes WW2 Counter Set there are

    A chits: 72
    B chits: 60
    C chits: 60
    D chits: 60
Total: 252 However, many of the special damage icons are Tripod related and they do not show a secondary icon (as on the WW1 damage cards) to allow them to be used in a normal Wings of Glory WW2 game.

Does anyone know why are there three blank A chits?

Replacement reserve? When you miss the only boom chit it can cause troubles. Or they just could not arrange them into shape for printing

This is my thinking about your question Daniel.

In that set the A chits were printed in 3 blocks of 5 strips of 5. 15x5 = 75, so if you want 72 chits there are 3 spares, which may be used to replace lost chits.

The B,C and D chits were printed in 3 blocks of 4 strips of 5. 12x5 = 60, so there were no spares.

I wish that Ares would offer spare blank chits and cards for sale, so that we could replace lost items. They have gone a little way towards this by selling packs of spare damage decks for Tripods & Triplanes, which may also be used for Wings of Glory WW1.
