Default Up in the air, Wright Flight birdmen!

This Saturday is the Second Saturday of the month - off we go into the wild blue yonder once again!

Epic Loot in Centerville, Ohio, will once again host our monthly Saturday game, with doors opening at 11 AM and us getting airborne about a half-hour later. We should manage to get two games in, and one will likely be a Tripods and Triplanes game - tripods must be invading SW Ohio due to the proximity of Wright Field...(what Wright-Patterson AFB used to be called...)

If you are able to stop by, we'd love to see you - come to play or just come to watch and hob-nob...should you need directions or have any questions, just ask!

    All the best,
    Matt

I have some R.E.8s that need to do some recon work. 17th squadron Camels will be with them giving high cover. They will need to be on their toes as the intel wonks have said that the Flying Circus has been spotted in the area in their Dr.1s.

Here's to them what are like us. Damn few and they're all dead.

Great game today. With Myself (Camelbeagle), Matt (Matt56), Jim (Rhodie80), Bill (Oldguy), Ray (Gdog), and Sean. I didn't get any pictures of the first game. I am pretty sure that Matt56 or Rhodie80 will have a pretty detailed report. The Flying Circus put some serious hurt on the 17th Squadron.

    The second game was Tripods.

Here are a couple of 'action' shots of tripods deploying Black Smoke - it was the most effective weapon for the Martians yesterday at our game. We all agreed that the small card stands are a valuable addition to keeping the BS going where it is supposed to go.

More pictures from my point of view will be on the T&T AAR thread. While we certainly had fun, the Martians didn't do as well as I had hoped...

    All the best,
    Matt

It is the beginning of my modeling of a Martian cylinder which has embedded itself in the earth upon impact. Wells describes them being 30 yards across - that would be 5.4 inches in 1/200 scale, but the 4-inch tube is big enough. Now I need to mount it on a base, add texture so that it matches more closely Wells's description of the cylinder, and add piled up dirt and debris to the base. I am also toying with the idea of mounting a green light inside the tube to give off the eerie green glow Wells describes - we will see if I can 'tech' that out...

I wanted to use it to see how it would work and get a sense for size and potential house rules...I know it is less that impressive than it hopefully will be when finished - as it is, it does look like a large toilet paper roll tube...

    All the best,
    Matt

Great looking games and some very nice planes, I particularly like the Dr1 with the red and yellow striped tail, was that hand painted or decals, it looks amazing.
