Thread: Show me your taubes!

    Default Show me your taubes!

The more I read about this plane, the more I love it (being a pigeon enthusiast doesn't help matters at all).

Aside from clipper's beautiful early birds post and the Shapeways release thread, very few of the existing threads have working images anymore.

If you've got a Taube, show it off here!

At the moment I am strongly resisting this:

Make sure you check out the photo gallery,

Oh wow, that's a nice looking model.

The taube is such a beautiful plane. Too bad it wouldn't be too effective in game, but might be fun to play in scenarios built around it.

Better still post your Taube pics in the Painting Showcase - there are none there currently.

I have one of these models, which I bought on eBay. It is more or less the correct scale to use in the game.

So here we are in the land of Taubes. No one can miss the display of a flying Taube at Omaka! Pure aviation poetry . . .

And a few Taube seeds among the collection. No, I only bought one Wingnut kit of it . . .

    Love these all!

David, are the little Taubes from Shapeways? Did you make cards for them for play?

(plant those seeds in the ground, grow yourself a Taube Tree)

I've got a resin printer, wonder if there's a model floating around I can try printing.

Yes, they are from Shapeways but I have forgotten by whom. I've been doing this for too long . . .

That is a very dramatic display in the museum, David. Thank you for sharing those super photographs.

The musuem is a ‘must see’ if you ever get over this way. I have lots of photos in my albums that I have taken on my visits there.

I think they're by Columbia Aerodrome.

In my shop I've only got the Albatros Doppeltaube.

And yes, that's a mess of struts. Since this was Albatros' first biplane, they must have been a little paranoid about inter-wing strength.

My search for "Taube" on Shapeways turned up a 1:144 pigeon-transporter truck by Masters of Military: http://shpws.me/RfaE. This just begs for someone to run a bombing mission with Taubes trying to take out the Taubes!

The thickness of the struts on the Shapeways Albatros Doppeltaube (necessary to print the model) make it look worse than the real plane, Daryl.

It is ironic that one of the first warplanes was called a Taube - meaning 'dove', when doves are usually associated with peace.

Hmm, has anyone created a game card for the taube? Curious what the firing arc would look like. From below, the observer would have nearly 360 degrees available, but the taube was above its opponent, much much less.

No fire arc; no machine gun!

Someone made a House Rule for firing a rifle or carbine air-to-air, but the chances of a hit are tiny, and the chance of inflicting damage even tinier

But where's the excitement of the lucky sniper fire pot shot from the hapless observer? Maybe something like draw a card, ignore the number, and only use special damage?

For simplification and playability, it might be fun to give a full 360 degree arc, but with some sort of damage limiting rule as above.

Not to mention the sudden seized engine or I accidentally shot the wing wires . . .

i wish ares would make an official one of these oddly unique birds.
