Thread: Storing my planes and accessories: Part I

Default Storing my planes and accessories: Part I

Shortly after I joined the Aerodrome, there was a discussion about storing your planes and accessories. I said I would take pictures of my system and post them.
Well, I took the pictures and shortly there after misplaced the thumb drive they were on. While rearranging my office, I found the drive, so here they are.

I literally found the Pelican case on the side of the road, one night. There were no markings or tags, to indicate ownership. So finders, keepers.
At the time, it would hold all of the WWI planes, two balloons and their cards, etc. Now, I can only get half of my planes in it.
I decoupaged parts of the boxes on it for decoration. Fully loaded, it is quite heavy, so I am glad it is on wheels.

Wow, that is a heavy-duty solution! What a find though.

For extra cards, tokens and other custom pieces, I used at fishing tackle bag.
When I only need a handful of planes, I can take out one of the boxes and replace them with a foam tray or two, depending on the thickness of the tray.

Because my collection of planes has expanded well beyond the capacity of these two containers, I store my planes by years of service in each tray. That way I can make sure I have only the planes available for the scenarios I am going to play. Planes not going to be used are placed in trays, in large shoeboxes, If I don't have them on display in my game room.

Currently my collection of 276 planes include, WOW, WOG and kit built. There is some duplication, that I plan on repainting in the future.

True, I don't have to worry about anything getting broken, provided I pack it full.

If you can tell me the shape of the custom cut foam that was in it and the color of the device that in contained, its yours.

That's a grand collection you have there, Peter!

    And a well-thought-out bomb-proof storage/transport system - kudos!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

I need to find a better way to organize my stuff. I have too many planes now to store in one case, and taking them all with me when I go somewhere to play doesn't work well :/

Where did you get those foam trays? I'm looking for a solution that incorporates storing each plane's cards with the plan. THANKS!!
