This year marks the 100th year of US Marine Corps Aviation.
I was attached to VMA-231 from 1/6/1982 – 9/30/1986, as a Staff Sargent with AV-8A & B Harriers.
It was a great time.

When I was stationed on Okinawa I was on Kadena AB one day and saw this small plane coming in to land. It was going pretty slow, compared to the F-4's and F-15's that were there, and I thought it was going to crash. Then it stopped in mid-air. First time I ever saw a Harrier. Cool plane.
Here is the last Harrier I worked on, former US Marine TAV-8A, converted to a British TMk-4N and then a TMk-8N. This bird belongs to Lt.Col. Art Nalls, USMC Retired. He also owns a British Sea Harrier, a Czechoslovakian L-39 Albatros and 5 BD-5J's (see the James Bond movie, 'Octo*****') He was my QA Officer in VMA-231. For more information on Art, look up "Badass Pilot" on YouTube.
