Thread: A suprise at Croome Court.

Default A suprise at Croome Court.

Last Saturday Mrs Kyte and I decided to break our journey in Worcestershire by visiting Croome Court and Park. It was the very fisst commission given to the landscape designer Capability Brown and incidentally also the Architect Robert Adam.
What we did not expect was to find a WW2 Airbase and Museum in the grounds.
Here are a few random photographs from RAF Defford.

    Thumbs up

Well that turned out to be a very nice "Bonus Find" Rob.
Looks like it was a great little museum!

You never know what you will find when visiting a place. Great photos. You think they would let you use the terain display for a WINGS game ?

Great find Rob. I read about the museum earlier in the summer, when planning a boat trip from Worcester on the Severn, but missed the chance to visit. I think it is where a lot of the development of radar was conducted. Must try again next summer. Thanks for posting.

    Thanks chaps.
I also must thank Mike for the Rep he sent.
It was in fact a very hush hush establishment working on Radar and RDF until well into the Cold War.

A very neat little book, and yes I will lend it out to any of my Squadron Leaders who have a vested interest in it.
