Default Flight Club - 12/19 at Entoyment, Poole

The second edition of Flight Club is set to go ahead on Saturday 14th December at Entoyment Poole for some further WGF action that any forum member, or, local WoG player to come and join in with.

This time Entoyment will manage the booking of this event - tickets to attend, that cover the cost of the tables, will be available on their website once its been posted up. (should be £2.50 in advance).
    https://entoyment.co.uk/
For those not familiar with the location the address is: Entoyment, Unit 2, Fleetsbridge Business Centre, Poole BH17 7AF; opens at 10.00.

This is not a demo/participation like we'd usually put on but a day for us to get into some more involved gaming and play some bigger, longer, WW1 scenario type games.
I will update an idea of content nearer the time but as they went down well it's likely that there will be more one hour dogfights in the mix and it may be the turn of the German bombers to have a go.

If anyone has a scenario they'd like to put on for this event please PM me and we'll discuss when to fit it in and what else we can help with in terms of models etc.

If you want to see how the last one went have a look here:

Well this is coming up fast now. I'm very pleased to say that Andy (Sauerkraut) has volunteered to put on a couple of scenarios for us and we will be playing a couple of 'one hour dogfight' scenario's again.
This time we'll have more pilots than the last so expect it to be cosy !

Tim, been trying to contact you but "Flying Helmut has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

Thanks to all that could make it, another very successful days entertainment, particular thanks to Andy (Sauerkraut) for providing the two scenarios and to Tim (Flying Helmut) for providing the planes for the two one hour dogfights (and to the Entoyment crew !)
Fifteen players in the end, here is the tale of the tape as I have it recorded, any accuracy is purely coincidental, well done all:

Dave(flash) - 3, (joint top scorer in game two - first scenario - with 2) on Staaken in last game
    Andy T (Sauerkraut) - 1
    Andy B (Sherlochnumber1) - 1
    Ian ( Chianti Raider) - 0
    Carl (Frag Thief) - 0
Simon (Thommo) - 3 (joint top scorer in game two -first scenario - with 2)
Hobz (Yellow Peril) - 4 (top scorer in fourth game - second scenario - with 3)
    Andy L (Ajay) - 0
Rob (Rabscallion) - 3.5 (joint top scorer in game two -first scenario - with 2; one a Staaken in last game)
    Alex (Prodromoi) - 1
    Tim (Flying Helmut) - 3.5
Andy H - 2 (one a Staaken in last game)
    Daryl - 3
    Adam - 3
    Sargon (Adam's son) - 2

I will try and get some pics posted for you tomorrow.

Next Flight Club is 29th Feb, I will put up a thread in due course.

Another great day duelling amongst the clouds at Entoyment. Thanks to all who attended with special thanks to Dave (Flash) for organising it and Tim (Flying Helmut) for providing the dogfight aircraft. Glad my first attempt at a couple of scenarios worked out so well (Beginners Luck I'm sure). Hope to see you all at the next one in February.

Another super day of banter-fuelled aerial mayhem - thanks to all who set it up, especially Dave (Flash), Andy T. and "Entoyment" for hosting it all.

    I look forward to #3!

Incident of the day... if you look carefully you will notice a three way collision between three tripes, with a Camel rubbing a little salt into the wound, surprisingly only one went down to what is known locally as the Carlision deck (bad luck Hobz) !

Carl contemplates the position - probably wondering how he survived that Carlision !

I was doing OK for a while but a gun jam and an early wound really messed up my plans... the second eventually put paid to them !

Near the end - gun jams & wounds abound, The RFC eventually claim victory over Jasta 11, Rob & Sargon sharing the top score honours for the Tommy's with a brace each.

Refreshed with a brew and some grub the lads return to the table ready for Andy's first scenario - Thunder On The Piave a bombing/photographic mission by the Austro-Hungarian forces flying Ufag, AlbD.III & Aviatiks against combined British/ Italian opposition flying Hanriot's, Macchi, a Spad XIII & Brisfits.

After some exchanges we turn to give chase to the bombers, managing another epic merging of airframes, though not as good as the tripes !

After much manoeuvring & consecutive fire I managed to down one of the bombers - luckily for us they missed the target, the remaining Ufag were also downed including the photo machine but somehow they still managed to beat us by a point.

We broke for lunch and after some scoff reconvened for a little bit more dogfight action

Finally... Contact ! The lead flies thick and fast

Moves later.. Flame, smoke, jams & wounds aplenty

Leads to this mayhem - more lead slinging !

Time was up at the end of this turn - only three kills between us for Alex, Daryl & Adam but the dreaded Hun lost two to collision and we called it for the RAF. Hot a desperate action, just how we like it (woof) and the models looked aces even if not always flown by them....

After another teabreak Andy took us to play with the big boys...
Andy B, Tim & Sargon took the controls of the three Staakens. Andy in the centre, Tim to the right, Sargon to the left

Flying a Camel I take on Adam's Fokker & we both trade smoke damage.

Having knocked down Sargon's giant (credited to me) we launched ourselves at Andy in the centre & I managed to knock out most of his guns on that side with my first pass

We started about ten fifteen, finished about ten to five, four great games under our belt, quickly packed up, Tim emptied the shelves & we all went our merry way !

Thanks again everybody, especially those that had to travel from distance, look forward to seeing you all in the new year, and I'll see you local chaps Wednesday night !

Thanks Peter, we proved yesterday we can cope with up to sixteen players but hope to have a core of a dozen regulars from the forum and pull in a couple or so on the day so we can play the big scenario's and the ever popular dogfights. Next time it may be the turn of the early war kit ...
It would not have been possible without the support of Entoyment as the venue and the supplier for Wings (other than Tim !) and, of course, the keen regulars that attend there and those willing to travel a couple of hours, or more, to feed their habit !

You lucky barstools playing with Tim's Jasta.
(at least I do have one)

I really am envious of you lot in Blighty that get to play in groups so often.

Thanks Pete - spread the love amongst the boys attending - Andy (Sauerkraut) did an outstanding job with the scenarios, Ajay, Rabscallion & scherlochnumber1 in particular were very busy moving models for us all to keep the games flowing and Tim for supplying them to play with.

Any feedback on the "Thunder on the Piave" and "Wir gegen auf England" (Staaken) scenarios would be very welcome. They were my first attempt at multiplayer scenarios and it's always possible to improve.

If we'd had pilots familiar with bombing The Italians could have been in trouble but otherwise "Thunder on the Piave" was a well balanced game I thought.
"Wir gegen auf England" ran well, I'm surprised they didn't break through the defences so maybe an extra Staaken was needed, or maybe , a staggered formation to thin them out a bit but again we all enjoyed the challenge. :
