See you on the Dark Side......
Blimey! Nice one Neil
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Thanks Neil for the link. I've never assembled a paper model but may have to try some of these.
Cor!
Never built a paper model..............might have to have a go, now!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Only one missing is the Pegasus variant but that is in the pipeline.
See you on the Dark Side......
Great little site here, Neil! Lots of BSG options - and great ideas for scratch-building if one doesn't want to try paper modelling.
I decided today to begin repainting my C-ROC cruiser - I started by spraying it GW Corax White...
I like the look of the color and will now begin detail painting before eventually washing and drybrushing things - it's a gorgeous little model, but the khaki and brown original color just didn't quite work for me as a BSG Colonial Fleet member...it should be a fun project.
By the way, the Pegasus is available from Moebius Models, as is the Galactica and Colonial One...
All the best,
Matt
That is going to be a great ship Matt. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I‘m curious, too.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Moebius ones are pricey, hence my looking around for alternative options.
See you on the Dark Side......
They are pricey, Neil - I agree...and getting them cheap on Ebay is also a good thing, Tim. My C-ROC was about the price of the Moebius models, but it was about MSRP, so I figured it was at least a fair price...
I would love to try and kit-bash or scratch-build a couple of 'goofy-looking' ships that would fit the aesthetic of the fleet...
All the best,
Matt
Printed off and cut out the Geminon traveller ship.
Looks good. Colour on printer is poor as I need to replace ink.
That said I'm going to construct this werk and I'll post a pic or 2 with a viper for comparison.
See you on the Dark Side......
Started blocking in some basic color on the light grey base coat of my repainted C-ROC cruiser - I figure it will become a passenger/freight ship of the rag-tag Colonial Fleet... I'm thinking it will be from the Leonis Colony, and I have found some cool insignia on a BSG Wiki, along with a nifty lion's head graphic that I plan to paint on the front nose of the ship.
...more as things develop...
All the best,
Matt
Just bought a C Roc for Ł19.95. Looking good for a civilian transport. Might use the smaller ship as a shuttle.
Neil
See you on the Dark Side......
Sounds like you got a better deal than I did, Neil! I hope you have fun with it - are you planning on repainting it or just using it as is?
I am looking forward to getting several 'ersatz' ships from various sources to use in BSG games...
All the best,
Matt
Just got one on Amazon for Ł19.95 as well.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
My eyes are not as good as they used to be so it will be used as is. Might look for some more 'Dark Side' stuff as big 'transports' and the like from other sources. Again I think Ares have missed a trick here by not bringing out a larger range than they have.
See you on the Dark Side......
C Roc should dock tomorrow.
Will have another go at a solo game.
See you on the Dark Side......
C Roc safely docked today. Lovely little fighter/shuttle to go with it. Base's and some cards for home rule additions.
See you on the Dark Side......
Some Round One photos of the repainted C-ROC cruiser - after spraying it with GW Corax White (which is actually a very light grey) I blocked in some blue and white color/trim and then went back with three different greys to pick out some panels and sections (more or less at random). Then I gave it a couple of washes of Vallejo Dark Grey and Brown wash mediums...
Next, we're on to dry-brushing and more washes, along with further detail painting. I have rhodie80 working on a decal for the front of the ship for me (Thanks, Jim!!!), and there is some more color I plan to add to represent the original colony the ship comes from...
This is proving to be a fun project, and I look forward to the finished product
All the best,
Matt

The blue and white stripes on the engines are simply trim colors, Mike - I wasn't thinking of them as indicating a particular colony. After painting them I started searching for BSG 'history' and emblems and found the twelve colonies 'badges' like you have pictured above. It is serendipitous that they match as they do... Unfortunately, Scorpia is not the colony that I was thinking of as I researched potential choices...
I am trying to decide where on the ship I want to paint the appropriate colony badge - right now I am thinking on the the topside somewhere. The 'ship' logo is going to go on the front nose, if I can make that work. I would also like to put some sort of serial number or ship number on the sides somewhere...I will need to do some more looking at pictures of ships from the series to narrow those options.
All the best,
Matt
Matt,
Good luck with the emblem placement.
Looking at your pictures, the designer of the model never intended any big company/organization logos to be put on it. There isn't any convenient flat areas anywhere, not even on the engine nacelles. Anything that appears flat on a quick glance is covered in deep panel lines.
There are a few areas on the tail, but they wouldn't be very visible with all the engine nacelles clustered on the back.

Base Jabber 89 and Hounds Tooth bought to expand the civilian fleet. 2nd Base box bought. Just need a heavy raider and a Raptor now.
See you on the Dark Side......
I have been thinking about the Hound's Tooth myself, Neil - I shall have to google the Base Jabber...
All the best,
Matt
Oooooh, the Base Jabber 89 is the kit that Zoe added bits to - very cool - that suddenly was added to my list, too!
Base Jabber might be a tanker.
Hounds Tooth maybe some added large containers fir a cargo ship or add ons for a mining platform.
See you on the Dark Side......
I've got some of these - didn't think they were big enough (I know my C-ROC and Gozanti are!)
I'ii have another look.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
If I remember correctly, someone either here or on the BSG FB page already has a Hound's Tooth repainted and modified...in fact, I think they flipped it upside down to further change its appearance. It looked pretty neat, actually... I could definitely see putting some sort of container on it and on the Jabber...
All the best,
Matt
Just ordered 2nd box set (from UK), a raptor and heavy raider plus rulers (aerodrome shop). All dispatched and on the way.
Must be mad, mad, mad.
See you on the Dark Side......
I must admit I ordered the Jabber on ebay last night after reading this thread...and if my FLGS has the Hound's Tooth tonight when I'm there, I will likely give them some custom, too
You aren't alone, Neil...
All the best,
Matt
So glad I am not interested in this one ...
I think a Raven-painted Viper or three would be right up your alley, Pete! And the scheme would look very cool on a larger ship...
All the best,
Matt

Here are four snaps of the 'finished' paintwork on the C-ROC cruiser - it's ready for clear coating and decal application, and maybe a tiny bit of final detail painting.
I picked up some HO scale letters in black - the sheet has various sizes on it - and I think I will be able to use those to dress it up a bit...
AND...my Jabber arrived in the mail today and I found the Hound's Tooth at the local hobby shop...
All the best,
Matt
Hounds Teeth has arrived, just awaiting Jabber, 2nd game box plus Raider and Raptor.
Have to start building some asteroids and stuff soon.

See you on the Dark Side......
That ex-C-ROC looks great, Matt!
I really didn't want to have to repaint my spare, but.........
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Here is the Hound's Tooth freighter from the Scum and Villany branch of the SW:X-W game. I turned it upside down and switched the mounting peg - I had seen this treatment somewhere (either here or on FB) and really liked the difference it made in the look of the ship...an easy modification to switch the peg...
Ad here we are sprayed GW Corax White...a cleansed palette awaits...
All the best,
Matt
Jabber arrived today along with 2nd core rule box. Just awaiting arrival of Heavy Raider and Raptor from Aerodrome store to complete my collection.................. for now.
See you on the Dark Side......
Pictures of my repainted Hound's Tooth - along with the semi-dazzle paint scheme (since the panel lines already sort of suggested it), I put a few decals from a generic Microscale letters and numbers sheet on it. I also put a lion's head decal on it (since it's a ship from the Leonis Colony) - my good friend Jim(rhodie80) turned a picture I sent him into a decal - thanks, Jim!
Along with the side and plane views, here's a shot of the new tramp hauler side by side with a Viper for size comparison. I think it will work out well when it appears in the game - I'm just now starting to think about stats for the beastie...
All the best,
Matt
Looks great Matt.
Nice, but you have too much money...
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
The decals love their new home.
Here's to them what are like us. Damn few and they're all dead.
Fantastic finish, Matt!
You have too much talent (as well as too much money!)
