Council of Five Nations 2019 – The Big Push
Saturday afternoon brings us to 1918. The war is raging but obvious in the direction it is going. Then something strange happens. Metal cylinders fell from the sky all over the planet but mostly concentrated in Western Europe. The war came to a standstill as the warring sides quickly realized the situation, the world was under attack from Mars!
Entente and Axis called a truce so they could join forces to battle the larger threat.
The scenario has 2 Locust tripods, 6 objectives and 3 aircraft.
German and French fly side by side to confront the Martian menace.
Not knowing what the Martians are capable of a German passes close by for a look.
Not a good idea as a heat ray flashes out and sears the Siemen-Schuckert. (A BOOM in T&T is half your starting damage, so 7 damage for the SSW D.III)
The Martians make a dash for a cluster of towns intent on destruction.
Martians and aircraft both have difficulty attacking each other but the Martians have other objectives in mind. Destroying airplanes is not their priority.
Two towns are decimated by the invaders.
The pilots do their best to get into positions to fire trhough an unshielded side.
Once the town is destroyed the Martian moves on towards the next.
The aircraft keep attacking trying to drain the tripod’s energy to get the shields down so they can begin to hurt them.
Another town is torn apart as the Martian tripod regenerates on the town’s resources.
The Martians deploy toxic clouds to deter the pilots attacks.
The pilots decide to concentrate on one Martian at a time as they are not having success singly attacking them.
Another town is in immediate danger regardless of the presence of defending aircraft.
Another town is crippled.
In an effort to get away from the pesky aircraft a tripod stumbles at the edge of a forest and falls. While down it is attacked mercilessly.
Finally a pair of aircraft coordinate and destroy one of the invaders,
The three pilots now hunt down the remaining Martian.
The Martian wrecks the last town.
As soon as the Martian destroys the last town is heads west towards more important targets.
It doesn’t get far and is destroyed before it can leave the area.
As the Martian didn’t get off the board it is a human victory. All 6 towns have been destroyed so it was a costly victory. Earth cannot survive if this is what it takes to win.
