    Default Larger ships for BSG

I have been interested in snagging one or two larger ships to use in BSG scenarios. I just noticed David Manley's Doncaster post in which he mentioned a C-MON cruiserr from X-Wing that would work as a transport for BSG...so I googled it and found the C-ROC cruiser. It looks like it would work nicely with the game.

Does anyone know of other ready-made ships out there that might work? The nice thing about the C-ROC is that it is not an iconic Star Wars ship (at least in my eyes) that would look out of place in 'another universe'...so any ideas on other ships that would be suitable? Any advice is most welcome

    All the best,
    Matt

I meant no indictment of you, David! When I googled C-MON, the C-ROC came right up.... The Google Machine knows what we mean And, by the way, your choice of non-BSG ship is pretty cool, indeed

Hope your flight home is uneventful and you have a blast at Doncaster.

    All the best,

Oooooooh! That's nice, too, Dave! Another X-Wing model, I assume...I shall have to look for it, too...

The Gozanti would be easy to fit with 4 vipers under its wings.

You assume correctly Matt. It's the Imperial Assault Carrier that carries 4 Tie types beneath it ...

I shall be bringing a C-ROC and a Gozanti to Donnie on Friday morning

    Maybe something else as well..............

I just receive a SQUADRON catalogue and they have BSG models (Viper II/Viper Mk VII & Cylon Raider) in 1/72 scale. Then Colonial One in 1/350 scale and the Galactica & Pegasus in 1/4105. Don't know if this is something you might want to check into.

I was aware of these, Bob, but it's nice to know Squadron carries them! Thanks for the info. I might build Colonial One and one of the Battlestars eventually...

I was more interested in ready-finished models that would take little prep time to get on the board for gaming, hence the interest in the Star Wars X-Wing models. While I certainly don't mind building and painting a model or two for the game, the pre-built models that I could simply repaint (should I so choose) are more in line with what I'm looking for at present. And in looking at the two cruisers mentioned above, I think I might want to repaint one, should I find one. They're a tad pricey, although their MSRP is a fair bit, too... I shall have to see what I can dig up.

    All the best,
    Matt

Dave, in the pic you show in Post #7, the rearward ship is in my collection of SW:X-W models - I received it in a trade deal for X-W vs WoG a while back. But it is too iconically Star Wars to use in BSG (from my perspective). A shame, really, because it's a lovely model...but I really do like the assault/attack cruisers. I will have to see if I can find one...

    All the best,

Well...I found a decently priced C-ROC cruiser on Evilbay and snagged it - it should be here next week......and I think it's going to be in for a repaint...

What's not to love about this game, eh!?

I agree Matt but I posted it as the best pic of the assault carrier with the ties attached not to suggest the other was suitable for BSG. That was your jump to FTL !
Hopefully you'll find a carrier on Evilbay soon too.

No, Dave, I knew you wanted me to look at the foreground ship - it's just that I already have the background one and cannot use it (don't want to use it) due to its iconic look... I imagine I will pick the Gosanti up, too, if I find one at a good price...

    All the best,

I thought that was going to be 'the other' ship you took Tim but didn't want to say anything and spoil the surprise. It looks grand mate

I for one don't mind using "iconic" ships in BSG games; since I never watched the new series, I have no emotional commitment to it's continuity.
I thought briefly about buying a SW Millennium Falcon at a game shops' going out of business sale, but decided his markdown off the $40 wasn't' enough to add to the pile.

Yes, this is the 1/4105 Moebius Models "re-imagined" Battlestar Galactica kit.

I bought one off ebay to build & paint, then this one popped up, already completed, for an utterly nonsense price, so I snagged it!

My C-ROC cruiser arrived today - quite the nice cargo ship it will be! I shall have to do a Battlestar, too, one of the days, but building one or two models and then fleshing things out with pre-builts will be my way to go, for sure.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, folks, and thank you, David Manley, for first putting me onto the C-MON/C-ROC

    All the best,
    Matt

I looked at the EagleMoss BSG ships, and honestly I wasn't too impressed so I passed. The C-Roc is a little different from the Gozantai but either should work fine in the game.
