    Default Box modification for tripods

I know many of you keep your planes and ships and tripods in their original boxes, but that has never been something I have done - the boxes just take up too much space - or maybe I just have too many... In any event, once I received my Tripods and Triplanes KS, I started thinking of condensing and storing. And while I am still considering options, I have a stop-gap solution that may indeed become my permanent solution.

This first picture shows 'drawer organizers' - a set eight plastic 'frames' available in various colors (green seemed appropriate) that measure approximately 12.5 inches long by 2.5 inches high. Their fence-like nature allows you to adjust/chose the size of the section that you need. I measured them against the yellow Invasion and cut four 'pickets' off of each - they are relatively hard plastic that scores easily and then snaps cleanly off.

Once all sections were shortened, I assembled them to fit inside the box...using the Locust to make sure of sizes.

This 'side-on' view gives an idea of the height of the frames vis a vis the tripods - the Cuttlefish needs 4 inches of clearance if you are planning on storing him standing up. The Invasion box has plenty of room for that.

Here is a top view of all eight of my tripods in place - plenty of room for more! I doubt I will need more than 16 myself, even with the couple of captured repaints I still want to do. The sections are also large enough to contain the tripod's movement and action cards, its octagonal 'flat' card and its vehicle card, in addition to the tripod itself. For now, I am using the other empty sections to store all the other cards and bits necessary for play. The only things that don't fit in the Invasion box now are the damage deck caddies, but that's not a real problem.

The organizing segments were rather inexpensive ($8.99) and Amazon had them to me in two days. I am pleased with the results so far

    All the best,

Yeah, Daniel - that's my MK 1 Locust captured by the Kaiser's forces and turned against its extraterrestrial masters... I plan to do at least two more - probably another Locust and a Scarab...different paint schemes from the one I've already repainted, of course!

    All the best,
    Matt

Excellent solution, Harry. Those of mine are stored in their original bubbles like humans in a Martian basket.

    A superb idea Matt.
Although I only intend to get one more to make my set six (how often have I heard that one!) having the option for 12 is a great step forward for Tripod kind.

I found the box supplied by Ares will hold 7 quite nicely (on top of the other accessories)
The eighth remains in the Starter Set box.

Good on you, Pete! I was sort of going this route until I realized I was bound to get more tripods and needed more space for them...

I am hoping that "Eight is Enough"

I guess I will find out when I actually play some games with them.
