    Default Base discrepancies

Yesterday in our T&T game, it became apparent that all bases are not created equal! By that, I mean that some tripod bases have the base decal sticker that is applied to the tripod's base trimmed a bit differently. One of the Locusts we were playing with had the back side of the base's orange shield coloring basically trimmed off, so that it appeared to be a black unshielded side - this confused at least one player, and we decided a fix was necessary...

The easiest fix seemed to be that I paint the shielded sides in an 'orange' that closely matched the coloring on the base, so today I did that with my Locusts - the other tripods will get that treatment this week...

Hopefully, there will be no ambiguities now as we try to determine shielded sides from those unshielded...

    All the best,
    Matt

Should not be a problem in future, Dan! Easy fix, all things considered...

    All the best,

Great idea Matt - I have noticed this on a couple of my tripod bases but not as severe as this!

I did much the same thing with a red paint marker.

It is not restricted to Locusts. I have a Cuttlefish with that problem.

Think mine are OK but maybe worth extending the colour onto the base edge for clarification anyway.

I just checked my Locust and see what you mean. The model has no marking for the rear but the card does. What paint and color did you use? Looks like a great fix.

I used Vallejo Orange Brown (981), Bob. Straight from the bottle - two coats...I am pleased with the results - it doesn't match perfectly, but it's close enough for government work...

    All the best,
    Matt

Thanks for the heads up Matt. I have 2 Locusts, just used them at Council of Five Nations. I did notice one had a less discernible rear shield. I'll break out my Orange Brown before they see the table again. I'll take a look at the others as well.

Thanks Matt. I have to pick up a bottle this week. Yours looks very close to the color on the model.

Guess I had better check mine this weekend.
I got two of each type but only opened one of each, and did not examine in detail.
    Thanks for the heads up.
