Thread: Mention in Dispatches

    Default Mention in Dispatches

I know many people do many things for the good of this community and its individual members, but some really go above and beyond with giving their time and skills to the projects of lesser mortals like me.

Mike (OldGuy59) has gone above and beyond the call of duty yet again, producing custom aircraft cards, 9 in total, for my contribution to this years Doncaster event.

My debt to him is far beyond my ability to repay.

Once Doncaster is over I will post some of the cards in the relevant painting showcase pages with the associated aircraft so you can all see.

    Lest we forget

I always look forward to Mike's next card - I've been fortunate enough to have had several for my repaints.

    A superstar for sure!

One card to rule them all,
    One card to find them;
One card to bring them all
And in the gaming bind them...

All Hail the Lord of the Cards! Thanks for all you so unselfishly do to make our games so much better

    All the best,
    Matt

I just made his 'BSG Starter Set Deck Strips' from his downloadable file at BGG: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepa...et-deck-strips

Very nice; they will stop my movement cards from slopping around inside the Start box.

In addition to the in-game content he has provided, if it was not for Mike I would be using a generic avatar and I would not have the gorgeous banner you see now. Mike rating: 5/5

    You guys are too much!

I get to play with my computer, and muck about with Photoshop, while doing constructive things for people that have a mutual love of great games.

Cards are produced because the Unofficial Stats Committee do the brain work, kudos to those hard-working members.

There are gorgeous paint jobs showcased on this forum, displaying awesome skills. Painting awards to them, as I can't keep up with all of the ones that deserve recognition, if just not a card.

There are projects and scratch builds produced by outstanding members creating all sorts of things that deserve, at least, a plane and/or management card to get them onto a tabletop to be enjoyed.

Thank you very much for the kind words, but I wouldn't be doing what I do, if all of you weren't doing what you do.

    All praise Andrea!

It is true that members on this site do so much to benefit the miniature aeronautics community. Lacking sufficient WGS support from Ares we all fill our need for our airplane model addiction from various internet sellers. But where do we go for missing or desired content? Who swooped in with support to lift my B-29 off the hobby bench and onto the game table? You are appreciated for breathing life into a game that is struggling to survive and that is something special.

Be sure gentlemen that Mike has the approbation of us all for the unstinting efforts that he puts in. It was an honour to meet him in person at Prague this year.
