A Ju88 is sent out to reconnoitre the area north of Norway to check for the presence of British warships. The German must fly within half a ruler length of any target and perform a stall to take a photo. The aircraft must then return to base to complete the mission. The British have a carrier in the area and there are two Gloster Gladiators flying over a Battleship as cover. All planes can can inflict a single A damage chit at one ruler length on each other, and a B damage chit at half a ruler length. The ship will not be firing AA due to the friendly aircraft overhead. Baxter is flying the Ju88, and Biggles Downunder and Windy Jack are the Gladiator pilots.
Through the murk the target appears!
Standby cameraman and gunners.
First exchange of fire. Both are hit.
The Ju88 flies past the first Gladiator and gives it a parting shot.
A couple of long range shots and the Gladiator goes down!
The Ju88 Co-pilot is wounded too.
The Ju88 wheels around the ship but is a bit too far out to take a photo :-(
The second Gladiator (Biggles Downunder) gets a shot into the Ju88 as he turns for another pass of the ship.
Another exchange of fire at closer range this time.
And again at even closer range!
At last the photos are taken.
The Ju88 gets a parting shot into the Gladiator before turning for home and some
nice Schnapps!
The Gladiator has suffered engine damage and there is no chance of him catching the Ju88 so the mission is now over!
The Ju88 has 6 points of damage and a wounded Co-Pilot.
The second Gladiator has 9 damage points and a damaged engine.
The British Battleship has been photographed and the Germans will not send out any commerce raiders.
Until things change anyway ..... (Scenario for a later mission?)
