Cheers Bob, a couple of days ago I was painting Texas Longhorn Cattle and this would has been a good technique to have used. Oh well maybe next time.

I have made some progress on my tanks, with base coating progressing on three of them - need to finish basecoating the fourth so I can get to ink washes and dirtying them up a bit...

This is a picture of the lozenge balloon I bought from clipper1801 from Hunter's Collection right when it went on sale - it had a nifty 3D base enclosed that was roughly painted. I took some time today to do a little repainting and dry-brushing on it. It is a gorgeously sculpted piece that adds a lot to the overall look of the spectacular balloon that clipper decalled

I take no credit for the gorgeous balloon, folks! That is all Clipper's work from years back - I remembered seeing his tutorial several years ago and loved it, so when it 'came on the market' as part of Hunter's Collection, I gobbled it up right away... The base was a pleasant surprise which came as an extra in the bottom of the box, and I just did some basic repainting and dry-brushing - it's resin and ideal for that sort of treatment. I did reconfigure the balloon mount from a thin wire to the standard balloon pegs...it's all just too cool to keep stored away in a box in the closet.

    All the best,
    Matt

As always nice work Matt. The base was a good idea no matter who came up with it.

That base and a few others came from a site member years ago from New Zealand who wanted to try selling them but was not able to. My son did a quick wash of color for me and then moved there as well. Just cannot recall the maker . . .

Gorgeous balloon, and equally gorgeous base!

    Great work, Clipper and Matt!

James "Far East" Machin started on Balloon bases, and some were to have been mine along with a "crashed" balloon model, in exchange for goods and services ...............
Unfortunately, James disappeared off the Forum following a job promotion, and nothing came of it.

This is only half of them that I did yesterday. I am hoping to finish putting decals on the second half tonight.
