    We changed up the plan.
Instead of running up the Sanich Penisula and stopping into the BC Aviation Museum on the way to the ferry, we went up the island to check out some of the scenes on a post card Karen found in Victoria. On that post card were a view from the Malahat Summit, Nanaimo Harbour, and Cathedral Grove. For the first two on the list, Karen and Neil will have to share their photos.

For the last, I have a montage that should explain why we bypassed the planes for some trees:

The tree in this image is over 800 years old, and is supposed to be the oldest tree in Cathedral Grove. There are copies of planes in lots of museums around the world, but only a few trees like this one in easy reach of civilization. Next visit, we can check out the planes.

Mike and Donna have selflessly given of their time to ensure both Karen and I have the greatest start to our holiday.

The pic of the tree shows you just how small and insignificant we are compared to the majestic beauty throughout the Grove. We'll worth a visit.

Ah, 43 years ago the new Mrs. Clipper and I were there a week on our honeymoon . . . I still have the photos of a cool orange turbo Beaver landing at sunset in the harbor, it was so romantic. She has some British China and an old guy with airplane fever . . . Thanks for sharing

Having a great time and again a wonderful start to the holiday with Mike & Donna showing us around Victoria and its environs.

Long drive up to Jasper some wonderful walks, the Sulpher Skyline was hard but well worth it.

Lake Louis was supposed to be a rest period for me! Day one a 20km hike from Lake Louise to Mirror Lake to Lake Agnes and the famous tea room (a bit miffed as I don't drink tea and they don't serve coffee! Was gagging for one after a 5am start!), then up and over Big Beehive, that was some climb suitable for mountain goats, then back down to Lake Louise.

Today we did Lake Moraine, although by canoe not walking, my right knee is swollen right up. Combination of driving and walking.

Hit Banff at 6pm today, catching up on some washing then a dip in the cave spring pool under the hotel. What a life eh.

Hope to see you soon. Damn shame I'm missing Doncaster.

It has been a long but very enjoyable 3 weeks in Canada. Fantastic to meet Mike & Donna in person and very grateful for a brilliant start to our holiday with them both in Victoria. A wonderful country, fantastic experiences, many of which caught on film (over 3,000 pictures and many videos to go through). Glad to be back though after landing at 7am yesterday and a long drive home.

We still have some technical issues to clear up as we changed broadband provider before we left but at least I'm able to type and upload from a laptop not my phone.

Look forward to seeing some if not all in the not too distant future, probably York, Vapnartak in February being my next show. Have to see how the shifts fall as I used my holiday allowance in one bite for Canada. Mind you I start a new year in November.

We must try to catch up with you then Paul.
Eileen and Mary can discuss it at Doncaster.

Also go have a look at Sails in about half an hour. The Wardroom.
