    Question Medal Ribbons Railings

Maybe I am totally off-side, but who knows - there are lot of users who has an experience with military service and everything related with

What I have: I have two medal ribbons - one too short and the second one slightly damaged.

What I want: A "doubleribbon" on a railing with my two ribbons with the same size.

What is necessary: Find a company who can do it for reasonable price.

What company must have: Ribbons and railing.

What I will supply: Drawings, colours definition, original ribbons and miniatures for the ribbons.

Question of the day: Do you know a small company who can do it even in one piece? I think UK would be better then US, but who knows...

Are the ribbons actual medal ribbons from a country or organization, Daniel? Or is this something you are creating? There are a number of companies here in the US who can supply the tw-ribbon 'bar' onto which you could mount the medals/ribbons... I would be happy to try and help you with this from my end. It sort of depends on what your goal/plans are. Perhaps email me a picture and we can discuss your needs.

    All the best,
    Matt

    I bought a selection of medal bars from ebay - 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8

It was a few years back, but they were very cheap as I recall.

The first "St. George Medal, 2nd Class" is from Czech Scout Organization (pretty similar to "Abyssinia Medal 1867" by the way) and the second "Jan Jansky, MD, Medal, 1st Class"from the Czech Red Cross (pure white, nobody uses pure whiet ribbon). I have originals, of course, and a spare ribbon from each, but as I wrote before: one is slightly damaged and the second is too short (not 38 mm). The small leaf and round mr. Jansky badge I can send.

I see it is only because esthetics, but despite the fact I was not in military service I feel even a scout uniform should be neat and well ironed.

Here are a couple of medals I had sitting on my shelf, Daniel. They look of a similar size to yours. The ribbons are designed to be placed together on 'bars' (or rails) to form the 'ribbon display' worn on the left breast of an American uniform - I am sure you have seen pictures of soldiers with several rows of ribbons above their left breast pocket.

This shot of the reverse of the POW Medal shows the 'pin back' on the ribbon and the pin on the medal. The pin back on the ribbon is designed to slide out so that the ribbon can be placed onto a multiple ribbon bar (rail). The ribbon is 9mm wide and 36+mm long - very similar in size to your ribbons.

I bet an 'American' two-ribbon bar would work for your ribbons. They should mount easily onto such a device. If you look at the back of the medal, you can see the pin back is designed to slide out, too. Are you wanting your medals mounted on a rail side by side, too? Again, I imagine the generic size of our ribbon bars would work here, as well...

Happy to help in any way I can.

    All the best,
    Matt

Chris is much closer to you than I am, Daniel - use him and his expertise, to be sure!

    Dear friends,
I thought you'll be the the one who help me
I'll try Chris recommendation, probably - it is much closer to me.
Why I asked here... Maybe it is surprising, but my faith in US and UK phaleristics is much bigger than in anything else. Here in CZ wearing of medals is still something people don't do much often. Maybe because there were medals like "Hero of Socialistic Labour" or "Order of Klement Gottwald" (biggest Czech Communist ever) so there aren't companies who take care about medals. Of course, they're manufacturers with high quality (and I must say that the scout medal I beautiful and very well manufactured), but they start on 50+ pieces. Moreover, the back side of medals are different, so I'm not quite sure if I can apply them together on one raling. I'll see, buying one is not a big deal.
Anyway, thank you very much a let me to US and UK medal designers and manufacturers that looks probably the best all over the world (Matt's medals are perfect proof that even the not-super-high medals / orders could be pretty neat!).
