Thread: Pilots for plane models?

    Default Pilots for plane models?

I've been wanting to add pilots to my WGF biplanes and was wondering what have other folks been doing? I see that there's a 1/144 set available from Reduced Aircraft Factory on Shapeways and was wondering if anyone's tried these? Recommendations welcome and appreciated. Cheers!

    Hi Andrew.

I have used Reviresco metal pilots (and gunners) in my Valom kits and Gotha bombers - the whole body figures fill the space nicely, and are "complete" when viewed closely (no missing limbs!).

My most common pilot figure used is by Perter Pig. These metal pilots (and observer dropping a bomb by hand) are a bit oversized, but have exquisite detail and paint up very easily.
They are, however, legless, and so are only usable where the interior or the cockpit cannot be seen.

I have bought Shapeways pilots and gunners, but have not used any as yet.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

I use Reduced Aircraft Factory almost exclusively. For the standing gunners on the Zeps I coat them with thin CA glue before painting and attach them with thick CA.

Thanks for the info, I'll think I'll give the RAF figures a try. Cheers!
