I have realised that there is nothing in the rulebook about collisions between aircraft and Tripods. Overlapping bases is mentioned but not collisions and what effects the shields have on collisions. I have left an enquiry on the Ares website.

Doesn't read that they are playing collisions in this one does it. Allowing overlapping of Tripods & aircraft without collision.
Simple to house rule if people wanted to - collision occurs when aircraft peg is on Tripods base at the end of the manoeuvre - a C deck for aircraft, a C deck for Tripod. If the aircraft peg passed through a shielded side the Tripod only takes an energy hit if appropriate & ignores all other damage from the C deck card.
Be interesting to see what Ares come back with.

That would certainly be one way to handle it, Dave, but depending upon how the shields work, hitting the shield might do collision damage to the aircraft and might the impact topple the Tripod? As you said, it will be interesting to see Ares' reply. They may just say that the aircraft fly too high to collide with the Tripods.
