Hey guys, Miniature Market has Barker’s Camel on sale for $8 and change. I think there are only about 5 left (after I bought mine!). Just a quick heads up.

Sorry, forgot the link: https://www.miniaturemarket.com/arewgf102a.html
I saw this also. I bought 6 yesterday. Always need Camels!
Six?! Darn, I was holding off to see how low it would go. If I’d have known we had a hoarder here I would have waited!
Always need more planes! Can't have enough!!!!
Good find. Just bought one.

I saw that they have a big wearhouse sale but didn't see and Wings stuff. Thanks for posting.
I looked at their WoG WWI section and see that most of reprints (pre orders) are already OUT OF STOCK. To me that's a good sign.
Gary,
Our group the Wright Flight gets together on Saturdays and we usually have enough for 5 or 6 on each side. We like to fly matching squadrons. Like a squadron of 94th spad xiii or something like that. Therefore we repaint in groups of 6 so we have an entire matching flight. We have lots of fun!
All the Barker models have now been sold.
Miniature Market is great! I have my reprints ordered through them too. Tripods & Triplanes also. LoL!

I don't mean to offend anybody. I have been planning on repainted some camels as my winter project and the opportunity to get some showed up so I bought them. If you know somebody who needs a camel let me know and I can send them one.
I don't mean to be pedantic or grumpy, but we regularly have threads here about the lack of availability of product for new people to get into the game. WGF fans constantly bemoan the lack of consistent "standards" available for new players to buy, whether in their LGS or in online stores. Isn't it a bit much to ask them to go to a specialist forum and ask for help? Few new players want a game they have beg or buy at eBay the components for the game. Just a bit of irony there.
And why do some players require so many copies of the same plane? Aren't mass squadron battles, except at a convention or something, a bit beyond the scope of the game? For my collection, I use the "Richthofen's War" rule and collect for 3 of each a/c type for use three at a time on the board. Okay maybe 4 on one side if necessary. But are some of you collecting aircraft models, rather than strictly playing the game? Obviously, you can play or do as you like, and my way isn't necessarily anyone else's cup of tea, but there's only so much product out there. And I don't know how widespread among veterans the practice of building entire squadrons of planes might be. Again, no one specifies how the components are used, but if there's a dearth of product on shelves, as we complain, is this not something to consider? Or maybe it's so rare (but I don't think so) that it's really of no consequence? Very strange things to my view (and that's all it is, of course).
Perhaps we should have a thread somewhere on this site where we can post details of stores, which have Ares products in stock. There is such a thread on the Anchorage site.
This is an interesting thread to read. I feel different, though, regarding individuals that purchase large quantities of individual planes. Ares, I'm sure, has no problem with high demand for their product, whether people use the planes for the game or for a WW1 collection. A high demand will get the attention of any manufacturer, who should make additional product and enjoy their profits. Yes, it is true that many planes are hard to come by, but there are plenty of planes available to enjoy the game (They just may not be the "Holy Grail" of planes that you are hoping to use).
Having said that, if there is an individual out there that has several new, in-the-box Lothar DR-1 Triplanes, and you are feeling guilty for your hoarding sin, I will gladly purchase one of the planes from you (For a reasonable price. After all, you are seeking atonement. Shipping within the U.S. please). If not, that's ok, too. Enjoy the game. Enjoy the collecting. Enjoy the re-painting. It's all in fun!
I understand every ones frustrations on not finding plane miniatures. For a long time my collection consisted mainly of Morane-Saulnier, Snipe, Albatros, and two-seaters. I managed to pick up some camels here and there. It wasn't until Clipper1808 listed a bunch of planes from a dear friends collection that I was able to pick up a lot of the hard to find Fokkers and such. He still has some good planes left. It is in the thread Hunters Hanger, page 6 I think he lists them. He still has lots of Camels, Fokkers, Pfalz, and others.
I have also been a model builder, railroad modeller, and miniature painter for a long time. I have come to want to use my skills for things I can use instead of shelf pieces. My model shelf is pretty full, and I don't do much 15mm or 25mm gaming anymore. For the past couple of years I have been using my energies to race, modify, and kit build slot cars. But even there, I can only race so many slot cars. Therefore, I have decided to use my creative energies recently on painting WOG miniatures to use in games.
Hence, I understand the different ideals going on in this forum. Some people want to collect, some want to just play, and others like to be creative and make new works of art to use in their games. A lot of people are a combination of the difference ideas.
It all comes down to how you enjoy the game.
I'm a little confused. Were the Camels already on the site at full price (@$11, right) and not selling? They must have put these on clearance for a reason. Yeah, hoarding isn't very cool, but having product go unsold and to clearance isn't good for the game, either.
Yes I agree. They had them listed for a bit under full price originally. They put them on their Drop program which is a clearance sale. Basically the price gets lower everyday until all of the item sells. When it started it had them listed as 20+ in inventory. When the price lowered to a little above $8 they finally sold the last of their inventory.
Other places have the plane in stock. Coolstuffin.com has 11 in stock for $11.49. I think Keith has some for sale in the Aerodrome store as well.
It looks to me that this was not the popular reprint. The Fokker Dr.I reprints and the Maclaren Sopwith Camel have been quite popular.
Some times a store just orders too many. On Ebay there is one place selling Battlestar Galactica for $51.45 AUD including postage!!! Other stores are selling them for $109 AUD at the moment. Bargains are there you just have to regularly search for what you want.
Yes. I did some thinking on this last night and came to the same conclusion. It is amazing how phrasing your words can make or break a conversation.
Thanks for the link Bwana Joe. I bought three aircraft to at least have "flights" of two for my Snipe, SE-5a, and Albatros D.III planes.
I like to give each player in our small group a pair of the same aircraft.
Jim
