Default Any new rule from the new S.E.5a?

There was an old rule for the S.E.5a to shoot upwards (the foster mount trick used by Ball and some others). This isn't the same as the "higher machine gun" rule for the Nieuports, which mostly had less sophisticated mounts and fired forward, or the 1 1/2 Strutter's fixed upwards guns (for zeppelin hunting).

Have the re-released S.E.5(a) models come with a rule card for that?

We will be unable to answer that question until the new models come out in August, Mark.

Never heard of an official rule to shoot upwards for the SE5a other than the Higher MG rule being applied to it - it would be the same rule used as the Foster mounting was developed in early 1916 and fitted to the British Nieuports at least; though the 'less sophisticated' mountings in use elsewhere were also capable of being fired upwards. The ability to tilt/tip the guns and fire upwards was the by-product of developments to mountings to make reloading and clearing jams easier by getting the breech mechanism closer to the pilot when he needed to perform those functions.
I expect the SE's will have the Higher Machine Gun cards.

I was able to get the new SE5a (Dallas) at the Ares booth at Gen Con. I can confirm that they contain the Higher MG cards for the plane

So there we are, thanks John. Now to retro fit my SE5 Squadron! Always something to do . . . should have acquired some administrative elves when I had the chance . . .

Quiet a few cards came with Dallas. I remember one where he can look at the cards of allied aircraft before planning, acrobatic pilot & bullet checker. I think

Thanks John, I will look out for them and see if there is anything new for the skills list.
