Great job Matt!

Funny that I have been busy this month but it seems to be going by at a slow pace. Didn't go to Historicon, did the Belgium planes and have some other planes to finish but still seems time is slow.
Maybe getting old.
Well, Peter, if you hadn't retired to The Back of Beyond, perhaps you would have your Martians already... But the backwoods of Maine is about as far as you could go from Ft. Wayne, Indiana...
Isn't time supposed to speed up as we age, Bob? Maybe it's the dog days of Summer slowing things down.
All the best,
Matt
I think it is the post office. I live in the same area as yourself and I still haven't got mine yet! Whine Whine Whine....
More than decent! Very well done!

Dan that is outstanding work and you are decent with the brush.
I can only really add to that by saying what a good looking pair they are Dan.

Dan, your work is lovely! Can't wait to see them in person...
And Mike - those cards for TANKS! are splendid! Thanks for running them up!!!
All the best,
Matt
Two more Valom kits completed - Nieuport 17's of Billy Bishop (blue cone de penetration) and Alan Duncan Bell-Irving. The inspiration for the Bell-Irving is from the Vimy flight plane with a small difference. I have the black stripe further back because I put the 'B 1' decal on the top of the fuselage too far back for the black stripe to be in the same position as the Vimy flight plane.
Lovely 'plain' planes, Paul, with splashes of color - great job - you seem to have the 'Valom aspect' down...
Keep up the great work!
All the best,
MAtt
Thanks, Matt and Ken
I’ve got a routine down for the Valoms. Can usually get the 2 models from one kit down in about 5 days - at each stages I have to leave it over night. So it only works out to a few minutes each day.
The amazing part here is 2 cabane struts went ‘ping’ but I actually found them! Had trouble with the rear cabane struts but that was my fault as I had put in the front ones first - I put the cabane struts in after the upper wing is attached t9 the interplane struts. Generally easier that way.
Paul, you must be a very patient man. I tried a couple of Valom nieuports and I pulled whats left of my hair out. I going to reuse the decals on repainted WOG nieuports. Good job!
Looks like it is ready for battle Matt! Awesome. Mine finally showed up! I think I may have bought more tripods than what I need.
Hope to see some tripods on the playmat next month!
Only just got back on line after a Lightning strike knocked out my Modem on Tuesday night.
looks as if I missed a whole lot here, Battle flags for Matt. Nice! Also two super Spads from Paul.
Good work chaps.

I can probably take some off your hands, Dan, if you need to get rid of some...
All the best,

Superb work, Old Friend! You will obtain a cinematic effect while playing!

Thanks Andy and also thanks for the holiday postcard which arrived earlier this week.

Rob nice backdrop. You could also use it for a small N gauge model RR.
Matt the shadow makes it look even more menacing.
Rob, I absolutely love your work/game table! What a great place to work and play.
Bob, the sun was coming through the dining room window yesterday morning - I wanted natural light. It was only after taking the pic that I realized how cool the shadow was... I am in the planning stages for captured tripod number two...the second one will be British...
All the best,
Matt
Matt if you were a Hog I would believe you but as a 98 I know you guys are very calculating.
That looks very good Rob, I see you have changed the clouds from your previous post and with the land background is very serviceable, do you mind me asking who's land background it is, I think your previous one was Pico or something like that, I think this one does look better although I do like the more painterly one as well.
Lots of great work guys. Dan, Paul and Matt,
First chaps, thanks for the lighting tips! I was trying to forget my previous immolations.
The original back scene was indeed Pifco. This new background is from WWW. art-printers.com.
As far as light is concerned :- a. Natural window light. b. Flash gun. c. Overhead lighting.

Rob, nice workspace/play table. If I made one like that my daughter and wife would confiscate it and make me go somewhere else.
Thanks for the info Rob, up until flying planes and seeing Flying Helmets background and pinching his idea, which is similar to your previous one I've always used a black background for my games, but my new set up is not in the corner of the room so I've had to change it and built this background.
This is the illusion
This is the reality
On the reverse I've painted it blue, but I've been struggling to paint realistic clouds and indeed am still trying, my plan is to have different foregrounds so I can create dessert, countryside and seascapes, still some way to go but yours is inspirational. Thanks
Thanks for the Rep Phillip. Mrs K bailed me out with the clouds in the end. She researched Cloud painting on line. Trompe L'oeil -clouds, and also Painting clouds on walls. I have just given her also some Rep on her profile page here on the Drome for helping me out.

The 1:144 scale Handley-Page V/1500 finally returned from Shapeways, and it's a real monster! 10-˝" (26cm) wingspan, guns front, guns in the tail guns in the middle. I had to try to think of something I could put beside it for a sense of scale that was universal, so I settled on a golf ball:
It makes the A.E.G. G.V look positively tiny by comparison!
John very nice table. I see a number of game being played with that setup. There are Model Railroad backdrops that you could use if you would rather not do the painting.
Well here is my end of the month planes. Added some Mig 19's/J-6's (Chinese Mig 19) to the jets I have been doing.
Mig 19 Egyptian AF
J-6 EAF
J-6 EAF. In the OSPREY book I have they have a color plate of an Egyptian F-6 from the Iraqi AF. That plane had a city name in Arabic so I used a decal with Arabic writing under the canopy. I don't know what it says.

Then I did an J-6 for the VPAF. This one goes along with the 2 Mig 19's I did earlier in the month.
Attachment 272472
Attachment 272473
Attachment 272474
The number 6066 is one of the plates in another OSPREY book I have. I put the Air to Air missiles on this one but as you can see I didn't put them on the EAF J-6's. Got frustrated so left hem off.

Again, non-aircraft, but a couple of banners for the camp at the Pennsic War this week. The green and black one (per pale vert and sable) is for the Barony of Brendoken,
and the blue and white one (azure and argent) is for my home Marche of Gwyntarian.
I've made over 130 of these displays, though these are the first in a few years.

Lots of great stuff here as the month is coming to a close - it's so great to check out the monthly workbench for continuing inspiration From Dan's Nieuports to Bob's MiGs to Karl's banners (glad to see you got them done, my friend!) to Dave's newest Martians - it never ceases to amaze me at the talent and creativity our Forum-members have.
All the best,
Matt
Great stuff as always. Just received an order from Dave (AIM) so have to start on next months planes.
