    Default Council of Five Nations

2019 Council of Five Nations will once again be in Schenectady NY at Proctor's on September 20-22.

I'll be running 4-5 Wings and BSG games. When the site is up I'll put a link here. GM submission is now open so this weekend I'll decide on the games I will be running.

You can get to the site and register 'HERE'.

Game submission is open. Below are the games that I have submitted. When registration is open I will put in the links in the first post above.

Fri 2pm Raid on Rabaul - Wings of Glory WW2
November '43 saw several major attacks on Japanese held Rabaul. This November 3rd mission pits P-38s and B-25s against Zeros, ground defenses and naval assets.

Fri 7pm Trouble over Malaysia - Wings of Glory WW2
As the Japanese advance down the Malaysian Peninsular, the RAF do what they can to stem the tide. Buffalos, Wirraways, Hurricanes and Blenheims go against Nates, Oscars, Zeros and Vals as the Japanese advance south towards Singapore.

Sat 9am Here come the French! - Wings of Glory WWI
It's early 1918. A French daylight bombing raid hitting important targets behind the German lines designed to slow supplies reaching the front. French scouts are sent in first to soften up any ground defenses before the bombers arrive. The Germans need to build up before their spring offensive so will defend their depots vigorously.

Sat 2pm The final push, spring 1918 - Wings of Glory WWI T&T
The Germans have one last try at breaking the Entente before the Americans can show up in force. An artillery spotting mission leads the attack before the ground assault starts. Before the attack begins something strange happens. Large cylinders rain down from above. Odd 3 legged metal devices clamber out and.....

Sat 7pm Water - Battlestar Galactica
The Glactica crew are hard pressed to find water after a cylon in human form sabotaged the holding tanks on the Galactica. While searching for the water a cylon raider force appears. The escorting Viper force will have to hold off the cylon raiders while the search goes on.

Sun 3pm The beginning of the end - Wings of Glory WWI
The RAF sends it's fast DH4 reconnaissance planes over the lines that are to gather important photos for HQ. Once the photos are returned a bombing mission is sent to take out the prime targets deep behind the lines into Germany. The Germans send up their home defense forces trying to prevent the Entente from their missions.

I have it on my Favorites and check daily. I have it under Council Gaming Con 42 since they are using Table Top like HUZZAH.

Thats good timing for those wanting to learn and then play in the next time slot in my game. Of course I will also be in teaching mode for anyone that shows up. Mark, will you be able to play in the 7pm game?

Thanks for the offer. I should have everything if I get the Raptors in time. (So maybe a Raptor could be used) Hope you can be there. You'll probably have more experience with BSG than me!

if that's the case, having more BSG experience, then I will do my best to stick around, I'll even drag my Girl Friend along, the section of the table we played at started calling her "Dat Iron Bitch" she had plenty of kills and is pretty good with the game as well so there can be experience on both sides of the table

can you send me the scenario for your Council game so I can take an early preview look?

  18. #18

Being a somewhat new game I think there are not a lot of very experiences pilots with BSG. I've only played a handful of times myself. I'll get in a few playtests of my game so I should be ready but having veteran players at the table is a big help. I've been running Wings for 5+ years now so I get quite a few players that could run the game without me.

I'll send it when I think it's a bit more firmed up.

sounds great, mine will be a straight up 4 on 4 if I get 8 players, I will be using the basic rules with rotation and KE added in as well as the doubles rule (6's only), not pilots, traits, FTL or Altitude for my game, what about yours?

  21. #21

    Default

I try to add in as much as I can handle. Rotation is what makes this game so great so have to have it. I'll use rotation, KE, FTL, and altitude. No doubles,(I think the + chits add in enough trouble!) pilot skills or traits just yet. I have to get a better feel for the game to know how it will all balance out.

I've never used altitude but think in this scenario it will be good.

I think if doing a teaching type game, might be easier for newer player to leave out the FTL and ALT for this go around at council, don't want to add to much onto new players, even with as easy as the game mechanics are, some folks might feel overwhelmed

OK kids, Council of Five Nations, or Council 42 on TabletopEvents, is this coming weekend! Wings, T&T and BSG will be run for your gaming pleasure.
Friday is WW2, Saturday WWI, T&T and BSG, Sunday WWI.

Sadly for health concerns Bill (NewFlyBoy) had to cancel his Sunday morning Sails game. I was tempted to run it but thought that running 6 games was enough for me!
Maybe a prequil to my 3 pm game if there are interested players looking for something to do....

Well, just go in after 7 1/2 hours behind the wheel. A breeze compared with driving to Origins. Bob should be here already.

Games start Friday at 2 with a Raid on Rabaul kicking off the weekend. P-38s and B-25s hitting the gun positions, harbor and facilities while a hornets worth of Zeros try to stop them.

    Love the PTO AARs.
Always enjoy reading about the lesser known aircraft you get into the air.
The Vildebeest look like they escaped from WGF - amazed they managed a kill.
Although the BSG also looks good I am not gonna be drug into the very dark side.....

Too bad, you'll be missing out on a great game. I gave up a long time ago thinking I could even keep one toe holding on to the slippery slope. Now I'm at the bottom and I'm not alone.

I guess because I never got into the initial BSG back in 1978 and never saw any of the reboot I should be safe.

War of the Worlds on the other hand ...

Got my Grey Fox Games Kickstarter yesterday.

Yes, a holdout from WGF! Watching the Vildebeest score a kill was one of the highlights of the battle for sure.

I never watched the original but did enjoy the second series. Don't play this game if you don't want to fall to the pull of the black hole of BSG!

War of the Worlds... T&T is also a great twist added to wings. Playing the tripods is a lot of fun. Another slippery slope indeed.
