From later on today I will be off duty until late on Sunday.
However Keith should be back tomorrow and Matt is still on duty to deal with any emergencies.

How come you get so much leave Skipper? Is it somebody you know who signs the chits?
Enjoy your weekend,Rob.
Enjoy your down-time, Rob! R&R is always welcome 'duty'...
All the best,
Matt
Typical English Five o'clock coolness. The Cylinders are coming down from the skies, but gadding is the priority.

I reckon he will be "gadding" around in an English Civil War outfit & will enjoy a "few drinks" after the Battles.
I hops all with him remember to drink enough water. Remembering many a hot and humid summer day in AWI kit, or Landsknecht armor.

Right on all counts gentlemen. It was a trifle warm on the Saturday, but we were billeted in the grounds of the Braze-nose pub ( Army of Parliament HQ for Sir William Waller and thus our brigade, so beer was on tap throughout for the whole weekend.
As for the chits, there was a good reason for that I was at school with Maurice Baring.
I will add a few pictures later.

Here you go.
Life around HQ.
Regimental Powder master and his goodwife.
The regimental Potter.
Blacksmith at work.
Turner preparing a spoke shave.
My Goodwife with Captain Parker and his Lady.
Captain Parker having a joke with two HQ Sentinels.
The musketeers prepare for battle.
General Waller and Captain Parker lead off our Musketeers from The HQ camp.
More of the Musket block.
Brigade Drums and colours follow the Musket with the Pikemen in the background.

Wonderful pictures of your 'gadding', Rob! Are you regular rank and file or do you hold a particular position within the unit (besides documentarian)? We need a recent pic of you all done up in your kit...
All the best,
Matt
Excellent looking time, Rob.
Maybe on my next trip (if not for Doncaster; some talks are underway), I can find a borrowed kit and join you, if only in camp.

Brilliant on both of you, great to see history alive!
Wonderful stuff, Rob! This is part of the Sealed Knot, right? So glad you and Eileen enjoy doing this together...
All the best,
Matt
It was actually her idea in the first place Baz.
Said it was time I got out and played with some soldiers my own size. That was in 1992.

Looks like a great time, Rob.
Lucky you that SWMBO is keen.
I can't see my Mickey going for this.
(although she did take me to some ACW re-enactments locally 20-odd years ago.)
Come to think of it, I don't think I would do well in the heavy wool outfits in July heat.
Almost as bad as Gettysburg was.
I do have pics but they are all 'analogue' (i.e. non-digital)
I do vaguely remember analogue Pete. I believe they can be scanned in.
