    Default Origins 2019 Friday

On Friday morning I ran Attack on the Martian base.

I ran one T&T game. My first. I had made my own card sets and markers from the print & play download not knowing if the real deal would be available at game time. Low and behold a set did make it to Origins in time. As I had put in quite a bit of time making my own components I had to use them! Even the Martians. At the last minute I threw together three models for All Quite on the Martina Front.
On the large Martian bases you can see the print & play Martians. These were used for all measurments, not the large round base of the model.

This scenario was an attack on a Martian base. Three mobile Martians and two immobile bases that could only rotate in place. Seven human pilots risked it all to destroy the Martian assembly area.

Eleven players participated in this game. John (rolld6) defended the Earth as best he could from the invading horde of metal invaders.

With 11 players new to the Martians, as well as myself, sadly I did not get to take many photos.

The crafty Martians set up a smoke screen between the base and attacking airplanes.

Two aircraft attempt to go around the smoke screen but a pair of machines engage them.

One Martian is hit hard. It has it’s energy reserve drained. When it tries to run away it topples over, not having enough energy to run.

It regains it’s feet(?) and starts to walk back towards the base.

The base is attacked but survives! Only one plane was shot down but they failed to accomplish the mission. Earth's survival is still on the brink!

Friday afternoon I ran a BSG game.

Hand of God was the first BSG game for me to GM. Turnout was great as BSG is still quite new. 14 players joined in to learn this incredible game. I’ve had it for a couple months but had only read the rules and thought they had some interesting mechanics. I sat in on Matt’s game the day before and got to see what you could do. This game is fantastic. If you get a chance to play don’t hesitate, it’s that good.

Another new game to all involved so not much time to take photos.

With all new players it was just a meeting engagement.

Here the players had moved their ships a couple of times before closing to engagement range. Ann had a very nicely painted console. (have to up my game and paint mine now! Thanks Ann. )

Several ships close into very close range and blast away.

The cluster spreads out and medium range shots flash across the void.

Everyone enjoyed their introduction to BSG as far as I could tell by the post-game positive comments.

Without a deep space mat it looks like a battle over the cloudy New Caprica.

I have a small 4' x 3' space mat I use for Starfleet Battles but for 14 BSG ships it would have been too small. Next time I'll have something appropriate.
