Thread: What after T&T? Forumers' concepts for ARES

Default What after T&T? Forumers' concepts for ARES

    Let's make a brainstorming party , chaps.
T&Ts are almost done and it's time to think what should we get next (excluding reprints dream calls) methinks.
What would YOU like to get as as the next WGF expansion/game?

My point is: we still lack official Zeppelin's rules and - of course - Zeppelin mini (what an inappropriate name!).
Knowing how inspiring Dave's (Clipper's) works on Zeppelins are and taking into account the scale of those giants AND trying to make the Zep fight easy and streamlined I think...

...the so called Zeppelin Expansion Set should consist of:
    1. Typical size or double size mat with a printed Zeppelin (I mean like Nexus East and West mats joined together),
    2. Rules, cards, damage cards and chits necessary to put the monster into action.
Mat means the Zep wouldn't be moved around but it would make it easier to handle in combat.

Oooooo! I love it when we talk Zeppelins! Do talk on. I am a fan of moving the big beasts, but I realize the table top size challenges . . .

I already have plans for my Zep vs Tripods. Also my two Staakens.

Series 10.... Series 11 you can keep the Monsters, Martians & Zeps (Oh my!).
Though I welcome the tweaks to the series 4 reprint a whole batch of new planes would be very welcome for a change.

Is that wise, Rob? Heat rays and hydrogen filled balloons sound like an unhealthy mixture. In 'The Massacre of Mankind' by Stephen Baxter the Zeppelins drop their bombs and end up in flames.

I am with Dave on this one.
New aircraft that were actually used in reasonably large numbers.

That, or the promised balloon reprints.

    And a London mat set.

I'm not in agreement to diluting the finance stream until the promised series are in hand.
That said, torpedo rules are badly needed.

That is true. Mathy ended up in flames after a brave bombing attack. The British and the Germans were allied that time...

I agree with Dave, new planes, not just reprints. The mentioned official campaign would also be nice.

    App support for gaming.

    Sopwith Pub & Italian twoseaters.

Battlestar Galactica Game mats - one of them with a Galactica hangar bay printed on.

WGS - Pacific war box with Grumman Wildcats & Mitsubishi Zeroes.

London Gaming mats east & West

...long wishlist. But if you ask me directly, I don‘t know.

In general some new mats would be cool. (Why mit with a Zeppelin)

New aircraft would be great as would official rules for the Zep. I have one of Clippers from way, way back and it always gets great comments when I decide to get it on the table.

If the tripods ever do arrive I think the Zepps could be effective with stand off weapons sytems like flying torpedoes and air dropped bugs . . . . which I suddenly have a pile of from Hunter's Shapeways stash, now to develop a mass launching rig on a Zeppelin hull . . . man these are good drugs! But where are the darn tripods?

Now that is a great idea - I really like it - minimal storage implications.

Just don't let the cat near it

I'd like to see new releases for "mainstream" WOG WW1/WW2/SOG and the existing ranges kept in reasonable supply rather than Ares being diverted off down more niche avenues

I would like to see WW1 squadron sets... or at the very least a focus on getting more stockists with stock to sell.. I know of no one in some of the largest cities in Britain e.g. Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham? Basically someone north of Watford would be nice... I know there is always the internet but it’s not the same. Haven’t seen a stockist at one of the northern shows for a few years now.

I was thinking about mass attacks. What we call the Snotling factor in Warhammer. A powerful enemy can only target so many attackers at once. A host of Kettering bugs are at least going to get a few through.

I'd like to see reprints of everything released so far, WW1 and WW2, to maintain the supply required to pull new players in and keep their interest.

NOT a fan of spin-offs and weird extras; the mainstream is desperately in need of major attention.

The "Midway" pack touted a few years back is needed, with torpedo carriers for both USA and Japan - carrier-bourne games at the moment lack that crucial aspect.

The campaign pack is also of interest.

I would just be happy to see the arrival of the SE 5a's & Pfalz that have been promised!
