Maybe too high Baz - bouncing bomb was released at 60 feet between 240-250 mph ...
Great shot of a Lanc over Derwent Water, only one thing better ... Two Lancs !
And hearing them !

Lovely shots of this impressive plane...although the setting is obviously inland, I am reminded of the episode of 'Foyle's War' where they're developing the dambuster bomb. Great pic as per usual, Baz - and nice 'double shot' add, Dave!
All the best,
Matt
Great pictures!
Barry: well done, as usual, but I think Dave wins the hand with, "I'll see your Lancaster, and raise you one."
Great pictures, Barry and Dave!
Really impressive photo, Baz.
Any info where and when it was taken?

Great photo. Maybe dropping a few torps ?
That second picutre of the three is particularly spectacular, Rob! Amazing shot
All the best,
Matt
Those are great photographs, Rob!
The photographs will have been taken in 2014 when the Canadian Lancaster was over here visiting the United Kingdom.
I do not think that a Lancaster was ever used to drop a torpedo, Bob. The Lancasters were flying low to commemorate the practice missions for dropping the 'bouncing Bombs' on the Dams Raid.
It's actually over Derwent reservoir - approximately 10 miles (16 km) from Glossop and 10 miles (16 km) from Sheffield in Derbyshire. (Derwent Water is elsewhere) and is one of the locations used by 617 sqn to practice due to its similarity to the German dams. The two Lancs flew there in September 2014.

Fantastic event it must have been. Simply the essence of flying.
