Default Britain's Greatest Pilot: The Extraordinary Story of Captain Winkle Brown

On Thursday 12th September at 10.00 p.m. BBC4 will be showing a documentary programme entitled 'Britain's Greatest Pilot: The Extraordinary Story of Captain Winkle Brown'. My t.v. programme guide says that in it Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown recounts his flying experiences.

It must be compiled from recordings because he died last year.

Immediately before it at 9.00 p.m. on BBC4 there will be the second programme in the series 'Lost Films of WW2'. In this programme the D-Day landings as filmed by a naval lieutenant will be shown.

If you enjoyed this, his biography is even better. If you would like to read it I will bring it up to Doncaster Tim.

Thanks for the offer WingCo, but I already own a copy.

You really should, I found it in the works earlier this year, fascinating autobiography, real boys own stuff in places. They don't make them like that anymore!

    Lest we forget

If anyone missed the programme and would still like to watch it, it is available on B.B.C. iplayer for the next 29 days at https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...n-winkle-brown

It basically follows his biography with interviews and inserted video clips (not all of them showing exactly what the commentary describes {usually the air combat sequences}). It is well worth watching.
