Default COLOURS 2019 - At Newbury

    COLOURS 2019 is on!

The Newbury & Reading Wargames Society have decided to host Colours in 2019 once again at Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire RG14 7NZ on Saturday the 7th September. The usual opening time is 10am but tbc by the hosts.

I now have confirmation of the table - anyone interested in attending please sign up - they usually provide 4 tickets for the crew, though it's not usually expensive if you have to buy a ticket.

So do as the sign says and enlist now !

If you've not been before it's well worth the effort, one of the best shows in the south.

Roger that chaps, more the merrier. Tickets for Me, Ajay, Neil, Rob, Tim,
Want to do the usual set up (which may require table movement) 12'+ long x 5' wide table, mats long ways across the width; games at either end, WGF & TnT, if Neil makes it.
Will use the short 'tutor' scenarios where we can, maybe something more involved and timed if we have the numbers.

Will be using my kit - if anyone has a damage deck caddy or two they can lend us that would be a great help.

    See you all there.

Might see if we can borrow this sign I saw at The Great Dorset Steam Fair....

Big thanks to everyone who attended and supported us at this event - it was one busy day !
We must've played about 20 odd scenario games between us on the two Wog tables & the Tripods seemed pretty busy as well, think we were all pretty much flat out all day. I will post some pics in due course. Tim, you were missed, take it you copped some flak on the way over !
Bonus was the trip home - door to door in one hour twenty two mins... Result !

    Default Some Colours Pics !

Here are a few pics of our foray at Newbury:

We were supplied with a 14.5' x 6' table which after a quick shuffle became a 18'x5' deck of loveliness. Ajay pictured settling in.

Rob (Rabscallion) & Andy (Ajay) assist me with testing out the "Bounce the Recon" scenario. We usually run it with Alb D.III's v an RE.8 but this time I went with a pair of Nieuport 16 against an Albatros C.III.

A tougher prospect but we were surprised how well it played - Ajay copped it early

And I had victory within my grasp when Rob snatched it away... !

We then had a go at Survival of the fittest with N.17 v Alb D.III's - I was set on fire on the first pass !

And the day ended badly for the Entente pilots....

Chris stepped into the breach when we grabbed some scoff - well done that man

Snoopy took on the Tripod scourge - Don't know how he got on though

Even a couple of old friends popped in to see me - TB & MDK (aka Ritter von Schmallhausen) from Sussex

We had a young pilot, Rupert, arrive for our last game who fancied survival of the fittest so I flew as his wingman against Rob & Ajay...
Helped along by a collision Ajay was downed by Rupert

    I flamed out...

And Rupert finished off Rob - not bad for a novice !

Then it was time to pack up and go home, another successful Colours in the bag, thanks to all who played, sorry I didn't get many of the names, or, pics of all the action but it was a little busy !

Great pics Neil - didn't get much chance to chat after but I take it things went well at the Martian end of things.
We will have to get you a table at Beachhead alongside ours if you're up for doing it again.
Can't recall if I got your details to Andy (Sauerkraut on the forum) but we have time to sort that.
