Thread: ACCELERATION AND ALTITUDE CHANGE

  1. #1

    Default ACCELERATION AND ALTITUDE CHANGE

ACCELERATION AND ALTITUDE CHANGE (page 17 of the Battle of Britain set).
« When an airplane executes a climb or an Immelmann, and the High Speed marker is faceup on its console, its speed decreases. If the airplane has a High Speed marker on its console, it is replaced with the Low Speed marker, no matter which speed marker has been planned.
When an airplane executes a dive or a Split–S, and the Low Speed marker is faceup on its console, its speed increases. If the airplane has a Low Speed marker on its console, it is replaced with the High Speed marker, no matter which speed marker has been planned. »

Cases when the accurate speed marker is not available, while planning changing altitude.

On the pictures, the current speed marker is placed on the airplane base, instead of placing it on the console.
The unused speed marker is on the right side of the console.

On the third picture of each case, 2 speed markers are available, showing that both can be used for the planned maneuver in the second space.

For the climb and dive, on the second picture of each case, 2 speed markers are placed on the planned maneuver in the second space showing that both can be used (it does not make any difference).

High speed before a dive card and low speed before a climb card would also be allowed, right?

Of course. The changing altitude Cards (Dive and Climb) can be used with any speed Marker (High or Low).

The examples above illustrate the cases when the accurate speed marker is not available, while planning changing altitude
