So, I am driving down the 210 Freeway into Pasadena to go to the Huntington Library (plant sale for members), thinking about how I should paint my Shapeways Fokker E.IV. Up ahead, I see a big rig car carrier...with an exceptional low slung all red car. Omigod, omigod, omigod, it can’t be..it was! 1966 Ferrari 330 P3, number 20, which raced at Le Mans (Parks/Scarfiotti). As I drive by, I realize it is full of race cars, including at least two Ford GT40 Mk.II. They were jammed up at an underpass, so one quick look and that was it as I zoomed past.
Then it came to me: Fokker Gulf ET.XL. One quick concept drawing later...now I just have to get my eyes to see that small again.

And just to think that when I started modelling the most advanced kit was the LEM.

I did a series of space vehicles in the mid-sixties, too - Mercury and Gemini capsules, and later the Lunar landing module...great little kits, as I recall, from Revell, maybe. That classic GT40 orange and blue paint scheme is a winner, Bruce - it should make for a striking plane Have to get cracking myself on finishing up some projects - Origins is just around the corner...
All the best,
Matt
You all talking about space models making me think I might have done an Apollo kit. I do remember having a DR1/Spad and Neuport (1/32 I think) but can't remember who made them. The Revell kits were great. I do remember the Avenger had folding wings. Fond memories.
Received my planes (11) from Dave (AIM) today so a few to do for this month. I have 5 to decal from last month and hope the have them done this week. A few more planes to add to the RTAF in WWII.
Blimey.. I find myself still painting Bolt Action British Infantry...not many left now, then I can start on something else

Looks like elf heaven! How many teams do you deploy? Lots of activity indeed.

How many figures per side Neil and how did the wet run go ? (you can hardly have a dry run with a beach landing !)

That's a lot of work in a short time. Lovely paint jobs all
If we manage to finish painting everything

I paint my struts early on in the process - I like to get past the bits I hate doing, so I have only "fun stuff" to do towards the end.
Struts, and WHEELS! Tyres and wheels, hate doing those.
And Pilots!
Having said that, I will often return to the struts, wheels and pilots on "finished" planes, and try to improve on my earlier attempts.

Very nice paint jobs Paul.
Anybody up for painting this monster?
See you on the Dark Side......
They're "Sarissa" MDF 28mm models, aren't they?

I'm sure I started a re-paint of a DH.4 somewhere along the line - better dig that out and finish it now

Ah, one of my first commissions for Battlefront my son did the book for the game and I helped with the bridge and a few gliders . . . that was 1/100" as I recall . . . excellent work as usual, what a project!
I just saw that Batttlefront has the Pegasus bridge set for sale. It was $275.00 on the Miniature Market site.
My guess is that they are bringing it back in coordination with the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. It is a great set, and has a lot more than shown here, although I'm not sure if the new offering has all of the stuff from the past set. There are a bunch of British and German units that come with it, but mine are all mixed in now so I didn't try to place anything but the one spotter for the 5cm KwK39. Btw, for anyone wanting to do the brick on Cafe Gondree, I made a copy of the building walls and then cut out templates to match the brick paper to the building...worked great.
Amoung other things I'm working on, I managed to cobble together some "models" so I can playtest some new rules...
The pile of debri that I generated, printing drafts, checking size, checking how to put the paper bits together:
Somewhere in there are two prototype models of a Raptor and a Heavy Raider.
Clearing away all the garbage, you can now see the "models" a bit better:
And the "models" on stands, with their Vessel Cards and Maneuver Decks:
These will be on a table tomorrow, one hopes, checking out some new rules.

Beatiful steel monsters there! Are they supposed to be part of any game? Maybe The Great War, by Richard Borg?
