Thread: Beachhead 2020 - Bournemouth

    Default Beachhead 2020 - Bournemouth

    An early heads up:

Beachhead 2020 will be held on Saturday 8th February 2020
That's a week earlier than this years; not sure how that will affect other commitments yet but worth noting in your diary.

Held at the Bournemouth International Centre for the fifth year, there will be a greater emphasis on tabletop gaming as a whole in 2020 as it has been an expanding and popular area of the show the past two years and I expect we will be part of it once again.

Think this is from 2018 - we are the light blue cluster of bods in the upper left of the image and that looks like Gunners at the Entoyment store at mid right..!

Details will be added much nearer the time.

Ah, you’ve clocked my bona visage Dave! Comment over left shoulder just now was “I suppose you were spending more money”.

Hopefully I shall be able to come along next year.

Received the forms today & have submitted them !

Not sure if Neil Ford or the SoG Jacks have had a message yet - if not but you want to run a game be it SoG, BSG or TnT I'm sure they'll be happy to accommodate, drop me a PM and I'll see what we can sort out.
Not clear on the position for tickets yet but if we can get more tables we might be able to get us all in if we all ask for min 4 tickets

    From Entoyment crew;
This is our fifth year and this time the show will be held across two halls, more than doubling the size of the previous shows.
The main show with traders, participation games, and demonstration games will be taking place on Saturday 8th February 2020.
In addition, we will have break out rooms with painting classes, board gaming design workshops and history talks, as well as a multitude of other gaming related activities.
There will be a greater emphasis on tabletop gaming in 2020 as this has been an expanding and popular area of the show the past two years. We will be hosting Board Games, RPG and Card Games as well this year, thereby encompassing the whole of the hobby.
For 2020, we will have over 200 tables in the second hall allocated for tournaments: WARHAMMER 40k (200 places); WARHAMMER AGE OF SIGMAR (64 places) ; STAR WARS X-WING (64 places) ; KINGS OF WAR (32 places) ; WARLORD GAMES’ KONFLIKT 47 (32 places) and BONEHEAD BLOOD BOWL, with more to be announced. These tournaments will run over two days on Saturday and Sunday 9th February 2020.

Haven't been contacted directly yet. Happy to run Tripods though am concerned having two tables of WW1 might be a bit much and possibly dilute the potential pool of participants. BSG is a pig to demo IMHO, quickstart is too simplistic and doesn't show the game off in a good light, full game is too complex to get over in the brief amount of time you have to hook someone before they say "No Thanks" and wander.

    Open to suggestions.

    - Neil.

Seems they've lost contact details Neil but I'm authorised to pass on the form if you want one - have an email for you. If it's changed since last time PM me the new one.
Agree with what you're saying - maybe we can put Tripods into the afternoon session on one end of the main table (as we usually run two halves) to re-fire the after lunch interest and see how it goes ? That will also give some WW1 chaps a chance for a break & a wander.

    Dave

Contact details haven’t changed, my domains are registered for 10 years!

I think splitting the table AM and PM may indeed be the best option. As you say, gives those not wanting to mess with Tripods a chance to wander and do something else in the afternoon if they so wish.

You’re the gaffer on this one, so I’ll go with whatever you think will work. We can have a chat about it this weekend.

    - Neil.

Peter (Entoyment) has always done his best to supply the troops in spite of the lack of stuff available - Asmodee shut for Christmes & now again for a stock-take so been unable to order anything the last three weeks - still stuff on the shelves though. Even saw a Blue Maus the other day !
He also does BSG, Tripods & models of those wood & canvas things...

We'll be hitting the Beachhead soon chaps - Me, Ajay, Tim & Rob get entry for the WGF event - Steve's doing his own thing, Mike can't make it now & not heard from Neil.
Chris, Simon & DM are doing the SoG thing so will have their own entry allocation.

WGF - looking to do the usual short scenario options - including the dogfight option. Will use my kit, Rob, can I borrow your damage deck caddy ? And if someone has a banner that would be nice but not essential.
I should be there by 0900, if not before, Kick off's at 10.00.
