Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
Thanks all that attended for our fifth year at Beachhead - another successful outing for the Aerodrome team and we netted a creditable 3rd place for participation against some wonderfully created games involving massed 40K Titans and a scratch built dungeon.
Yet to catch up with the organisers but it seems that all went well despite being let down at the last minute by a well known war game provider. Shame on them.
So thanks to Chris (Boney10) & Si (Maverick) for Sails; Andy T (Sauerkraut), Tim (Flying Helmut), Steve (Guntruck), Rob (Rabscallion) & my best mate Andy (Ajay) who has probably made his last appearance at Beachhead as he'll soon move to Welsh Wales - you will be missed old chap.
I will post some pics soon.
PS. If you like what you see please favour the above chaps with some well deserved REP.

Yep, a good time was had by all, and good to catch up with a few friends.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
All set up, ready and waiting for the crew and the doors to open
A sea-change...?
Tim helps Chris & Si set their sails !
Don't be alarmed chaps - normal service is resumed !
Tim is spotted returning from the Entoyment stand.
Ready for action & banter - the chaps play a warm up game
(L-R) Steve, Andy, Rob flying RFC N.17s
The opposition
(L-R) Ajay & Tim flying Albatros D.III with me.
The set up - we Germans lost the toss and get bounced by Tommi !
Ajay pics up the first noticeable damage - set smoking by Rob. In the background, Tim thanks the stars that Andy has jammed guns !
Excellent flying as the German contingent manage to avoid colliding - a rare event recently !
Rob, Andy & Steve can only be impressed !
Rob slips in behind Tim and starts him smoking
A few moves later Ajay & Tim set about Rob at close range
Andy swoops it and exacts a measure of revenge...
Dropping Ajay for the first kill of the day.
Tim returns the favour in kind and takes Andy down
Having already been double teamed by Rob & Steve, Steve in the silver N.17, squeaks a shot through and sets me on fire !
Tim batters Rob from the sky for his second kill of the game
Moves planned and set on revenge I pull my second fire card... Bugger..!
The match is called a short time later - Tim had fancied his chances of a third kill but when the cards were revealed he was happy he hadn't tangled with Steve after all as he had plenty of health to spare compared to Tim's few remaining points.
An honourable tie
****
After introducing Glen, a young man from the X-Wing community at Entoyment, to the recon scenario Rob helped this young fella (7) and his dad take on Tim flying the RE8.
Having boomed dad early on Tim entertained the youngster until his demise - though fire caused by Tim's last burst would have done him in before he could get home the young man was very pleased with his effort.
****
Glen, meantime, had moved onto the dogfight scenario, taking the opportunity to try out the N.17 & enjoyed a game with us in spite of finally biting the dust !
Look at those +1's
His wingman (Andy?) was soon downed after his loss & the Germans victorious
****
I then flew the RE8 against Adrian, another Entoyment local, with Tim as his wingman - I gave them a proper run around but deciding to slow up and get in a cheeky shot cost me dear when Tim, who had caught up with me, cleared his gun and downed me.
****
Steve coached a family against our team
Andy passes on the pain to dad - yep, that's two for you !
****
I managed to take my LvR D.III for a run out with some success
Softened Andy up for Tim's next kill
Immel - close range shot for 7 !
****
Rob & Tim take Sargon's family through their paces in the bounce scenario
****
A finale dogfight match up with Hobz (Yellow Peril) took place toward the end of the afternoon. A simpler 'have at it' charge across the table rather than the bounce scenario.
After the first pass and exchange I managed to get behind Tim's Alb (Wolff) with my silver N.17...
And lit him up !
Sadly jamming my gun's in the process which I was hoping to use on Rob's white tailed Alb (Allmenroder)
I was lucky that we overlapped when he immelled !
To the right Ajay's burning N.17 is pursued by Andy's black tailed Alb (Schafer). Hobz, ahead of me, is jammed too.
A few exchanges later - after Ajay had fallen me & Hobbs are up against it - I'd picked up a wound from Andy but he'd jammed his guns.
Close encounters - I'm jammed again following an exchange with Rob, Tim gets a shot out of the overlap into Hobz,Andy heads back with guns cleared...
Which he puts to good use !
Hobz, all alone, turns the wrong way - Tim pounces and suddenly it's all over ! A clean sweep for the Hun's and Tim claims #5 on the day
Well done all - a great day out.

Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
Great looking event. Fun to see faces matched to some of the forums champions.
Introducing youngsters to the game - thats top shelf.
My favorite bit was the picture of Tim returning from the Entoyment stand... with what looks like 6 new two seaters. His legendary, and often commented on, acquisition skills on full display!
Well played by all.
3 two-seaters for WGF, 3 Viper Mk,VIIs for BSG
The two-seaters are Teaticket's fault - thanks to him, I now have 3 potential Schlasta flights to repaint, and needed extra models.
The Viper Mk.VIIs are needed to flesh out flights of fighters from both 'Galactica' and 'Pegasus' for a scenario I am developing.
"Entoyment" is the best FLGS I have ever come across, and it is a pleasure to be able to support their business.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
PS
My 'shop' also managed to "re-distribute" 13 out-of-production planes to 'Dromers who wanted 'em - gotta share the love!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Very unlike a QM store !

Another cracking day, thanks all and special thank you Dave for organising
Another grand day out. Thanks to Dave for organising this and for your kind words. I'm glad I was able to maintain my skill at being the first to perish at a show yet again
Yeah but you did it in style !
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
It's what I do with a little help from my friends !
We will have to chat over arrangements for some upcoming shows if you are up for them - Legionary 2nd May - Attack 19th July - COLOURS 12th Sept - Naval Wargames Weekend Yeovilton 3/4 Oct - Warfare at Ascot 14/14 Nov

Forgot to say what an excellent day of gaming it was!
All the scraps were contested in a fierce-but-friendly fashion, and the banter was top notch as always.
Thanks to everyone for attending, and special thanks to Dave for organising our attendance........
Glad you're happy to do it, so the rest of us can have another great day out at the seaside!

Some great pics in there.
I really like those smoke and flame markers - very subtle and realistic.
Thanks for sharing.
Great to see you guys briefly on Saturday and sorry I didn't get a chance for a game as got pulled into a Star Wars X-Wing battle...! Anyway.. great to put a name to the faces and hopefully see you all soon at another event soon!
Thanks,
Chris
Wow looks like a great day, wish Entoyment would open a branch oop North, coz we have NOTHING !!
Great photos and AAR Dave, thank you
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Dave, I've been meaning to ask (but forgetting!) where did you get your explosion discs?
With their black outer edge, they'd be ideal for my "Battlestar Galactica" games.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Was another great day out, and with my other hat on, as part of the Show's organising committee, I'd like to thank everyone for their efforts and the entertainment they provided.
Wow it looks like you all had heaps of fun
Checking my calendar, at present I appear to be free for at least one day each for Legionary, Attack, Colours, Yeovilton and Warfare. Looks like I have a lot of sorties I can fly wingman for you Dave.
In the files Tim, it's one of these by LGKR - just can't recall which !

I am merely the guide - these are the handiwork of the late great Don Bonner (LGKR).
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
had a pleasant "Blue Peter" evening printing them off, sticking them onto card and cutting them out.
