Thread: Ju-87 Models?

  1. #1

    Default Ju-87 Models?

Looking for some Ju-87D/G models in 1/200 scale. I've scoured the internet as best as I can, but I'm afraid that's not coming up with much that's promising. Perhaps someone who's 'in the know' or just has better luck with this sort of thing can help me?

www.armamentsinminiature.com run by our friend David.
If there is no D/G version, just ask him and maybe he could produce these versions.

Spoke to Dave yesterday - he's really tied up doing BRS stuff at the moment and has little time to do new masters/moulds, so getting him to do a Ju 87C/D is probably a long way off. He's hoping to get a 109G replacement mould done by next week, and adaptors to fit his planes on to BRS stands.

What does BRS stand for, Steve?

Just how far off are the 87B to the 87D & G's? Don't have my resources handy in the car . . . hmmm, engine and cowel changes, lg outline, canopy. Any wing outline . . . How many? I know some elves . . .

Larger wingspan as well; wings appear longer and slimmer (at least on my 1/300 planes)

C & D models had the same wingspan, G models had a longer wingspan

I have acquired a few different versions of Ju.87, and will check the Comox Air Force Museum Library for more, and better, drawings.

This is a composite of a G-2, with extended wingtips:

Might be close enough that if you slap a couple gun pods on an Ares Stuka, it will look ok.

I like the B-variant more. The overall look is much more ugly and less aerodynamic. Especially the cooler under the engine and the engine bonnet. The canopy is more edged, too.

Dave has been very busy with people ordering planes for BRS. I know the last mold he did was for the B-17G.

From what I can tell, the main differences between the D/G models and the B models are as follows:

    - The fitting of the Jumo 211J-1 engine allowed for the redesigning of the Stuka's nose, sliding the intake (if that's what that is) further back along the nose and making it more areodynamic.
    - The cockpit was redesigned, having much more of a hump as opposed to a perfectly straight and level cockpit on the B models.
    - The D-5 (which would become the basis for the G-2) had extended wingtips.

    For reference, here's a B and a D model from the side.

I should note that these are only the obvious changes - there are several changes to armament, ranging from an increased payload to the replacement of the rear machineguns to replacing the forward machineguns with 20mm cannons or 37mm anti-tank guns, and the D-series introduced more armour to better support the Schlacht ground-attack role.

I'm kicking myself for not looking at Warlord Games' site sooner than I did. https://us-store.warlordgames.com/co...stuka-squadron

They look to be 1/200 D-3 models (I think the wingtips aren't as pointy as they are on the D version, but I can't tell from the image) for roughly $5 per model in a set of 6. I can't vouch for or against Blood Red Skies' model qualities, but I've had considerable experience with Warlord Games' minis, and from what I can tell their metals are kinda hit or miss. Has anyone else bought any metal Blood Red Skies models and can vouch for their quality? Pics would be nice (a search of 'blood red skies stuka' doesn't show much that isn't already on the site).

    Steve,

Dave must be busy because I placed an order over a week ago. He said he would have the order out this past week but haven't heard anything. Usually get my order within a week at the most. I will see what happens this week.

Aidan I haven't bought any of their planes but I know that their twin engine planes are ZVEDA models which, are plastic. I have their JU-52 and its a pretty nice model.

Yes, he usually gets my orders accross the pond within a week of ordering. He said yesterday he has finished the 109G mould so I should get my latest order early next week.
