Default Cylon Heavy Raiders and Raptors, pics and prices

Ares just announced to us retailers the details about the new Cylon Heavy Raiders and Raptors. I'll start with some pics first:

    Cylon Heavy Raiders

    Raptors

These are set for release in August of this year and the Raptor retails for $16.90 and the Heavy Raider for $24.90. I have them up for pre-order on the AA store for $12 and $18 respectively.

I personally think that Assault Raptor looks pretty sweet!

Had an oportunity to play BSG at Prague last week flying a paper Raptor and they are nifty and fun to fly.

I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings

Cool! I assume the raptor stats are based on different configurations or something?

I flew the Heavy Raider in Prague and, unsurprisingly, it is a boat. Only a straight Overboost, and limited maneuverability. I don't like the G ratings for some of the maneuvers on the Raider, I dislike the G ratings on the Heavy Raider even more. But, they make sense.

The massed cannon on the front deal two chits pre hit, with extra chit draws only happening if both chits have pluses. Must roll '8' to hit.

It can take lots of damage at 20, IIRC, and that might change on publishing. And along with the (lack of) maneuverability, the playtest had the Acceleration at a grand total of '2'.

The game in Prague had the Mk I Raider, the Mk II Raider, and a Heavy Raider pitted against two versions of Raptor, and a few Mk VII Viper. Again, if memory serves me.

Well, there was also Tim flying a Blackbird. But since it was invisible most of the time, it fits that it was not noticed by you.

Think I'll start this series with a heavy raider veteran & Boomer.

Unfortunately no Number Six for a heavy raider pilot card.

A Number 6 could have been. Just cause one wasn't shown on the program, doesn't mean we can't have one. And it isn't 'historical' anyway.

Have a look at the series Colonials and deserted Cylons form a combined task force. (season 4)

OK. I wasn't looking for bad stuff, but already published Talents and Flaws.

I suppose this request could have gone sideways, considering the TV series.

Ok, I was just trying to be fun. Actually our first releases are more concentrated on the start of the Series, then going up with seasons. Vessels and pilots will later follow, with Mk.VII and stealth fighters and such.

Skills sound great. Only note: Towing has been designed on purpose to allow Starbuck to push Apollo's wrecked and motionless Viper to the Galactica, as seen on an episode of the Reimagined series. This does not prevet to give the same skills to others, but that was the reason behind it and its main purpose.

In the Season 4 episode, "The Hub", Cylon Heavy Raiders tow Vipers to ambush the Resurection Hub. So, I used a Youtube video to capture the Number Six images, and to write up the pilot fluff. I thought "Towing" would fit with that. I also ended up putting six Talents, instead of five, without a Flaw. But, Towing isn't really usable in most scenarios, so I hope it can slip past the editors. Oh! And the Level 5 AI Cylon Pilot Card (+2 to Hit) had six Talents but no Flaw, too.

True, Towing is of rare use. Ok. We imagined it more like an emergency towing started all of a sudden in the middle of a battle, needing a lot of skill and a bit of craziness - hence my note. But you are right, that's good also for the episode you quote.

[Edit: Corrected Stats and double-sided the card]
    [Edit: Corrected Stats again.]

I didn't fly the Raptor, so I don't remember the stats. My guess at the Attack and Acceleration, with no recollection of the Structure.

I also went with a Colonial gradient on the FTL box, rather than the Gold-Red on the Cylon cards.

PS: Did I mention that "Acceleration 2" is crippling when trying to maneuver in this game? It was like trying to run with buckets on my feet, as a Heavy Raider pilot.

And if I'm on a roll producing BSG cards, I should produce a Blackbird card, too.

This one was tough, because there were no line drawings for this ship. So, I drew one, in desperation. I will have to thicken the lines to get them to display better, but that can wait until the stats are confirmed.

[Edit: Thanks for the stats confirmation, and now complete with a card back]
[Re-Edit: Redid, with the Yellow trim and boxes, and added FTL capability]

It was supposed to have missiles as its only armament, but since the missile rules were not ready, Andrea replaced this armament with a gun "8", just as you have it here.

Many thanks Tim. Fixed the Raptor card above. Not sure what to do with the dual firing arc on the second Raptor. We'll have to see what Ares does to the 'official' card.

I can't find a decent image of the Blackbird in flight. Must be that 'stealth' mode.

Thanks for the confirmation, Tim. My original numbers were a guess.

Card above now redone, with a back. Finding a decent image of the Blackbird in flight was futile, even using BSG videos (I finally used a model image).

As played in Prague, the Blackbird had to be a ruler away from any enemy ship (24cms). If so, at the beginning of the turn, the pilot announces he is going stealth, and plots moves as usual. However, the ship on the table is replaced by a stand template. The number of moves is tracked, and the pilot plans each subsequent move, writing down the cards used, if necessary. No shooting or actions are allowed by either the Blackbird, nor actions against the Blackbird.

When the pilot wishes, in any subsequent turn, to reveal himself, the plotted maneuvers are used to move the template/ship from the original stealthed spot, to the present turn spot. Hopefully, not running into any asteriods or planetoids. Future turns are as normal, until the pilot wishes to go Stealth again.

Addendum to what Mike said -

Only the first turn (when Stealth is announced) is recorded; each subsequent turn MUST be in a straight line, at the same speed ("going dark" requires switching off all engines, power systems etc).
Stealth can be retained indefinitely; when the player decides to power up again, he announces this AFTER all other players have planned their moves. He then immediately replays his recorded turn, then all of his straight Stealth moves, then places the ship model on the map and plans his move for that turn.
Play then proceeds normally for all.

Going through the latest posts of PragueCon, and noticed omissions from the Blackbird card. Now corrected, complete with FTL capability.
