Default WGF Series 4 now available for pre-order

The Aerodrome Accessories store now has Series 4 up for pre-order.

Series 4 includes the long awaited RAF SE.5a and Pfalz D.IIIa. Also included are the mighty Breguet BR.14 and Rumpler C.IV two seaters.

The SE.5a minis are sure to sell out quicker than most due to the high demand and the ease of repainting the McCudden version.

The Pfalz D.IIIa has a wonderful looking aircraft flown by Berthold and while Holzem is a reprint, the upper wing on this one does not have the lozenge camo on it this time around.

I am about to put an order in and I noticed that one of the Breguets is different. What is the difference between the Br.14A2 and the Br.14B2?

Order in; wallet is not happy, esp. after the ship buying this weekend

Br.14A2 was the recon version, and quicker (longer arrows in the game).
Br.14B2 was the bomber version, and slower (shorter arrows in the game).

Stanley/Folger's one has also a card for an optional rule on an additional "tunnel machine gun" under the fuselage, pointing to the rear. It fires to pursuing planes.

Same question for Se5 vs. Se5a: Fr vs. N decks?

    Exactly.

Maybe so, but a bit of a cryptic exactitude, alas.

Well, it's exactly the same situation:
Se5 was the originally released version, and slower (shorter arrows in the game).
Se5a was the enhanced later version, and quicker (longer arrows in the game).

If you want some comparison with some of the most popular planes in the game: Br.14A2 and Se5 are as quick as a Sopwith Camel. Br.14B2 is as quick as a Fokker Dr.I. Se5a is as quick as a SPAD XIII.

With the Br.14B2 as fast as a Dr.I, we're going to need some dive and zoom house rules for it.

I'm trying to decide on how many and which planes to get. Does anyone know the difference between the Pfalz D.IIIa and Pfalz D.III?

    Thanks,

The Wings of War cards are the same, no difference but not sure if they (Ares) changed them with this new set coming out.

Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa are identical in game terms, with the exceptioon that only the Pfalz D.III can apply the "Unreachable machinegun" optional rule - if you jam, you can not unjam.

The D.III has a max altitude of 12 and the D.IIIa maxes out at 13.

Welcome to the site bignut76. If you hover your mouse over the WGF (or other acronyms on the site underlined like that), it will give you a pop up telling you what they mean. In this case, WGF means Wings of Glory First World War. The WGF is the code that Ares uses for their products of this line.

Wings of Glory Firstworldwar, as opposed to WGS - Wings of Glory Secondworldwar. SGN is Sails of Glory Napoleonic.

True, but to be 100% accurate the game is BSG:SB - Battlestar Galactica: Starship Battles.
