Thread: Battle over Waterloo

  1. #1

    Default Battle over Waterloo

For our Tuesday night stoush we flew the Battle of Waterloo scenario from the Battle Britain Scenario booklet. This scenario involved 30 BF109 fighter bombers and escorts attacking the Waterloo Station and surrounds. The RAF had patrols up though to intercept them. Windy Jack and Mark were flying the 109's and I flew both Spitfires P and T. Please forgive the pictures as I was struggling to find a font and colour that would be visible against the shiny mat surface. I am thinking that the last two pictures came out the best that way.

So that was how our game ended. Two Spits downed and Waterloo Bridge badly damaged but not destroyed. Neither of these two 109's hit the station, and one 109 was destroyed. Not sure who would consider that a victory.

Those 109s are hard to spot. The give away is the shadow. Spot the shadow and you can find the plane.

For others looking at the AAR: in the high shot you can see one of the 109s all by itself in the bottom left of the photo. That's what rudder damage does to you.

Good game in spite of the shine from London. Put that light out!

Any game where the British pilots bail out over friendly territory and the Huns bail out over enemy territory is advantage Brits. We could replace aircraft much quicker than trained pilots.

Great AAR and excellent pics. I sure wish Ares would release the London maps in the 'mousepad' format.

    REP on the way.

    Thumbs up

Good B o B set too there Gary.
You are not wrong about the 109 Camo! They just disappear on the mat.

Thank you for the good A.A.R., Gary. Were you using a flash gun or was the reflection from the normal household lighting?

In the absence of rubber mats of London, I was wondering about buying some acrylic sheets to put over the maps and provide a smooth playing surface but that would probably not solve the reflection problem.

It's the London map from the Giants release Tom.
